Job description
BME Strategies is seeking a Consultant, Change Management to lead our clients through the âpeople sideâ of organizational transformation. The person in this role will be a strategic partner to public health departments and nonprofits, moving beyond checklist-style project management to ensure that new policies, technologies (including AI), and protocols are deeply embedded and sustained by the workforce.
A key focus of this role is guiding local health partners through the adoption of AI-enabled tools and workflows, translating technical capability into practical, trusted practice on the ground. As an example, someone in this role may focus on why a deadline is missed, investigate human constraints like burnout or capacity gaps, and build the inclusive communication loops necessary to maintain organizational resilience., BME Org-Wide Responsibilities for Consultants:
- Consultant roles at BME consist of approximately 85% project work, 5% administrative work, and 10% business development.

Leads or co-leads larger projects, technical and advisory, and contributes to project design.
- Independently driving work with minimal day-to-day/project oversight.
- May supervise Associates and Senior Associates.
- Manages projects to exemplary client satisfaction.
- Contributes to and/or leads proposals.
Role-Specific Responsibilities:
- Transformation Leadership & Strategy: Lead the âPeople Sideâ of large-scale initiatives, ensuring that digital, operational, and AI-driven transitions are met with high adoption and minimal resistance.
- Human-Centered Journey Mapping: Design and facilitate journey mapping sessions to identify friction points for frontline staff and stakeholders, ensuring implementation plans are grounded in the practitionerâs reality.
- Strategic Stakeholder Engagement: Identify exactly who needs buy-in and partner with our Strategic Communications team to craft data-driven narratives that foster trust and alignment.
- Workforce Development & Coaching: In partnership with our Workforce Development Team, provide hands-on coaching and upskilling to local leaders and staff, fostering long-term autonomy rather than temporary support.
- Change Impact & Readiness Assessments: Conduct qualitative and quantitative assessments to evaluate organizational readiness and the magnitude of change, specifically within rural and urban health settings.
- AI Change Management & Local Partner Support: Serve as a trusted advisor to local health departments, community health centers, and other local health partners as they adopt AI-enabled tools and workflows, translating technical AI capabilities into practical, human-centered guidance, addressing staff concerns about trust, data privacy, and job impact, and ensuring responsible, equity-centered adoption at the point of care and service delivery.
- Embedded Liaison Services: Act as a primary point of contact for diverse coalitions, resolving operational issues by addressing the underlying human capacity needs., Lead organizational change management workstreams for complex enterprise transformations. Develop change strategies, impact assessments, stakeholder engagement plans, communications, training frameworks, readiness interventions, and sustainment programs. Coach executives and sponsors, manage client relationships, mentor junior practitioners, contribute to OCM methodologies, and support business development. Engagements may include ERP and technology implementations, operating model redesigns, restructuring, process transformation, and post-merger integration. Travel to client sites may reach 50%.
Requirements
- Masterâs degree in Public Health or a related field.

Minimum of 4-6 years of relevant experience required, including 2 or more years in a consulting firm environment
- Experience in organizational change management or public health leadership and consulting.
- Experience with health systems in Massachusetts or other Northeastern states (Maine, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York or New Jersey) is highly preferred.
- Minimum 1-4 years of client-facing experience.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced consulting environment.
Core Competencies: Mastery of change management frameworks (e.g., Prosci ADKAR, Kotter) and experience applying them to people-powered systems.
âGeneralistâ Agility: Ability to âzoom outâ for big-picture visioning and âdive inâ to execute critical details during peak workloads.
Technical Literacy: Proficiency in data visualization tools (Smartsheet, Tableau) to build âreadinessâ dashboards that track employee sentiment and adoption metrics.
AI & Emerging Technology Literacy: Working knowledge of AI-enabled tools and processes relevant to public health operations, with the ability to translate technical AI concepts into accessible, actionable guidance for frontline staff and local partners with varying levels of technical comfort.
Certification: Prosci or equivalent Change Management certification is preferred.

- This is a full-time position based in a home office environment within the U.S.

- The salary range for this position is $87,360 - $120,640 annually.
