Job description

This role is based in our Middleton, WI office and follows an onsite work schedule of four days per week. Work arrangements may change at the company’s discretion to meet business needs.

What you bring to the table

The video game industry and therefore our business is fast-paced and will continue to evolve. As such, the duties and responsibilities of this role may be changed as directed by the Company at any time to promote and support our business and relationships with industry partners. Therefore, this role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:

  • Designing, modifying, optimizing, and debugging gameplay systems

  • Researching and documenting ways of improving our gameplay systems

  • Deploying, evaluating performance, and testing software on all supported platforms

  • Communicating features and development with production, engineering, design, and art teams

  • Participating in the performance and code review process

  • Contributing to the design and roadmap of industry-leading AAA engine technology

  • Collaborating and co-developing with other engineering teams

  • This position reports to the Lead Gameplay Systems Engineer

Requirements

You will be working on the engine systems for our shipping products as well as improving the workflows of our development team. You will need to be proficient in writing efficient and clean C/C++ code. Qualified candidates will need to have a background in engine development and the subsystems that support games., * Bachelor’s degree in a Computer Science, Engineering, or Math related field

  • Experience developing and optimizing engine systems

  • Effective 3D math and algebra skills

  • Strong programming skills in C/C++

  • Background with multi-threaded systems

  • Understanding of computer architecture and memory management

  • Solid debugging skills

  • Shipped at least one game title

  • 2+ years of experience working in the game industry or related field

  • Proven ability to collaborate, coordinate, communicate and support other team members

  • Understanding of object-oriented programming

  • Creative, motivated, focused, passionate, results-oriented

  • Demonstrated ability to write efficient, readable, and reliable code

  • Passion for games and technology

Extra Points:

  • Development experience with networked multiplayer games

  • Experience with systems in a client-server architecture

  • Understanding of animation technology, including state machines, playback, and blending

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $30.53 - $56.48 Hourly. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. Your Talent Professional can share this role’s range details for your local geography during the hiring process. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed. While we strive to provide competitive offers to successful candidates, new hire compensation is negotiable.
