Job description

  • Conduct EMI/EMC testing to verify compliance with E3 requirements and relevant military standards.
  • Analyze test results and identify electromagnetic interference issues affecting system performance.
  • Develop EMI/EMC test plans, procedures, and detailed technical documentation.
  • Collaborate with Mechanical, Electrical, and Systems Engineering teams on design and integration.
  • Troubleshoot complex electromagnetic problems and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Serve as a technical interface with customers during requirements reviews, test events, and technical discussions.
  • Ensure all products meet E3 standards and support necessary design tradeoffs and risk assessments.
  • Support test execution at local, domestic, and international locations as required.

Requirements

The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance, The EMI Effects Test Engineer is responsible for EMI/EMC electromagnetic interference/electromagnetic compatibility. The candidate should possess at least 4 years of experience in this field and engineering experience with both military and commercial standards, including but not limited to MIL-STD-461E and above, MIL-STD-464A and above, EN5550X, EN61000-XX and FCC Part 15. Specific areas of expertise will include experience in the design and verification analysis of EMI/EMC, Electrostatic Discharge (ESD), Hazards of Electromagnetic Radiation, Lightning and High Altitude EMP, Shielding effectiveness. Also, desirable would be familiarity with TEMPEST filter designs and isolation techniques., * Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) or a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and a combination of any of the following:

  • EMI/EMC analysis design and / or test
  • Experience with MatLab, ANSYS / HFSS or CST Microwave
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Value:

  • Currently holds a DoD issued security clearance of Secret or higher.
  • Strong expertise in the field of EMI design methodologies for military applications.
  • Experience in Earned Value EVMS and working TINA compliant proposal activities.
  • Ability to provide detailed documentation related to EMI test plans and EMI procedures as well as test reports with minimal revision and review.
  • Knowledge of automated EMI test techniques and programming, specifically using TILE!.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong customer focus with good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and E

Benefits & conditions

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
