Job description

Solutions Architect - Technical Design - Infrastructure - Security - Automation - 12 month contract - SC/DV Clearance

I have an immediate opportunity for a hands-on Solutions Architect to join a busy programme with our client in Scotland.

You will lead end-to-end solution design for a secure shared service platform and bring architectural coherence, governance and technical depth to large delivery programme within the public sector.

Due to the nature and urgency of the role, ideal candidates will be British Nationals and hold active SC clearance and willingness to obtain DV clearance.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in Technical or Solution Architecture within programme, project, or product-led environments.
  • Strong cloud architecture expertise across Azure, AWS, or GCP.
  • Experience designing solutions across cloud, on-premise, and hybrid environments.
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Strong understanding of DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, and automation practices.
  • Experience with Git-based development and deployment tools (GitHub, Azure DevOps, Jenkins).
  • Familiarity with automation and configuration management tools such as Ansible.
  • Working knowledge of Scripting languages including PowerShell, Python, and Bash.
  • Experience with container technologies and orchestration platforms such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Understanding of Microsoft and Linux infrastructure across physical, virtual, and containerised environments.
  • Strong stakeholder management and ability to influence technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Experience leading architectural governance, standards, roadmaps, and technical strategy.
  • Ability to lead design workshops, mentor engineers, and provide technical leadership.
  • Experience working within secure or classified environments.
  • Understanding of Zero Trust, Identity & Access Management (IAM), and Secure-by-Design principles.
  • Experience with software-defined data centre technologies.
