Job description
MCS Group is delighted to be partnering with a large, established Northern Irish organisation as it continues to invest in data, digital transformation, automation and AI. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Data Analyst to join a growing Business Transformation function and take ownership of reporting and analytical requirements across a complex, multi-business environment. Working closely with a Data Engineer and stakeholders across finance, operations, IT and transformation, you will turn business requirements and complex datasets into accurate reporting, clear insights and practical recommendations. The organisation is investing in modern Microsoft technologies, including Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, Power Platform, Copilot and Dynamics 365 F&O. Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing business requests for data, analysis and management information.
- Working with stakeholders to understand and clarify reporting requirements.
- Writing and maintaining SQL queries for data extraction, transformation and analysis.
- Developing, maintaining and improving Power BI dashboards and reporting suites.
- Producing KPI, operational, financial and commercial reporting.
- Analysing data to identify trends, anomalies, risks and improvement opportunities.
- Presenting analytical findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Supporting data-quality, validation and reporting-governance activities.
- Maintaining clear documentation covering reporting logic, ownership and standards.
- Identifying opportunities to streamline or automate manual reporting processes.
- Supporting technical data-development projects alongside an experienced Data Engineer.
- Contributing to Microsoft Fabric, Power Platform, Copilot and AI initiatives.
Requirements
You should have:
- Proven experience in a Data Analyst, BI Analyst, Reporting Analyst or similar role.
- Strong SQL querying and data-analysis skills.
- Practical experience developing reports and dashboards using Power BI.
- Strong Excel skills and confidence working with large datasets.
- Experience preparing and transforming data using Power Query or similar tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
- Experience gathering requirements from business stakeholders.
- The ability to translate complex analysis into clear business insights.
- The confidence to manage priorities and work independently within a collaborative team.
Experience with any of the following would be advantageous:
- Microsoft Fabric.
- Dynamics 365 F&O or another ERP platform.
- Power Platform, including Power Automate or Power Apps.
- DAX, data modelling, dataflows or Power BI gateways.
- Copilot or AI-enabled analytics.
- Data governance or reporting-standard development.
- Financial, commercial, agricultural or commodity-related data.

- Salary of £30,000-£40,000.
- Hybrid working with three Belfast office days and two home days.
