Job description
We are seeking an experienced Sr. Software Engineer - Graphics to serve as a critical contributor in the development of innovative products within the Electrophysiology Division. The selected candidate will participate in the design, development, and deployment of system and software architectures supporting diagnostic and interventional cardiology devices. This role will be involved throughout the complete software development lifecycle, including concept development, requirements definition, architecture, design, implementation, verification, testing, and product release. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with C++, Qt, Linux, OpenGL/CUDA, NVIDIA GPU programming, computational geometry, and 2D/3D graphics development, preferably within a regulated medical device environment. Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Design and develop software applications and embedded software for diagnostic and interventional cardiology devices.
- Apply strong software engineering and design principles to develop medical devices that meet defined performance, safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
- Develop software requirements, architecture, detailed designs, implementation, and testing according to product development quality systems.
- Develop embedded software algorithms, Linux-based applications, and graphical user interfaces.
- Support algorithms and applications involving:
- Real-time 3D location tracking
- Real-time 3D anatomical model creation
- Intracardiac signal visualization
- 2D/3D graphics and texture mapping
- Participate in project activities including requirements definition, software architecture, functional requirements analysis, implementation, code reviews, verification, validation, and final release.
- Create and execute software and firmware test plans and protocols.
- Generate test reports demonstrating compliance with software specifications and quality system requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including:
- Quality Assurance (QA)
- Regulatory Affairs (RA)
- Test Engineering
- Hardware Engineering
- Manufacturing Engineering
- Participate in design reviews to ensure software and firmware solutions meet product requirements related to safety, reliability, performance, and serviceability.
- Make, recommend, and justify critical technical decisions based on technical analysis, investigation, prototyping, and testing.
- Document developed solutions and transfer designs to manufacturing teams for production.
- Provide technical support and sustaining engineering during product launch and post-launch phases.
- Contribute creative and innovative solutions throughout the product development process.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 6+ years of software development experience, or equivalent experience such as 4+ years of relevant Ph.D. research.
- Strong experience creating and managing software requirements and translating them into effective software architectures and designs.
- Experience developing software through the complete product lifecycle.
- Understanding of and experience with medical device software development.
- Experience working in a highly regulated product development environment.
- Excellent technical documentation skills.
- Strong Object-Oriented Design and Programming experience.
- Excellent hands-on programming experience with C++.
- Strong experience with Qt.
- Strong experience developing software on Linux.
- Strong experience with OpenGL Shading Language (GLSL), CUDA, or GPU/stream programming concepts.
- Experience with NVIDIA GPU programming.
- Strong understanding of OpenGL 2D/3D texture mapping techniques.
- Excellent understanding and hands-on experience with computational geometry algorithms., * Experience developing graphical user interfaces using Qt/QML.
- Experience developing medical imaging, visualization, mapping, or real-time 3D graphics applications.
- Previous experience developing software for diagnostic, interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, or similar medical devices.
Mandatory Skills & Proficiency Requirements: Candidates must demonstrate strong proficiency in the following areas:
- C++: Advanced hands-on Object-Oriented Design and development experience.
- Qt: Strong application development experience.
- Linux: Strong development experience in Linux environments.
- OpenGL / GLSL: Strong graphics programming experience.
- CUDA: Experience with GPU and parallel/stream programming concepts.
- NVIDIA GPU Programming: Hands-on development experience.
- 2D/3D Graphics: Strong experience with OpenGL texture mapping and visualization techniques.
- Computational Geometry: Excellent knowledge and implementation experience with computational geometry algorithms.
- Software Architecture: Ability to translate functional and system requirements into scalable software architectures and designs.
- Requirements Management: Strong experience creating, analyzing, and maintaining software requirements.
- Medical Device Development: Understanding of regulated medical device software development processes.
- Software Development Lifecycle: Strong experience across requirements, architecture, design, coding, testing, verification, and release.
- Technical Documentation: Excellent documentation skills within a highly regulated environment.
