Sr Systems Engineer

Blu Omega is seeking a Sr Systems Engineer to support a federal program focused on mission area. This role operates within a remote environment and is responsible for designing, modernizing, integrating, and maintaining complex systems supporting mission-critical federal programs. The position requires experience supporting system architecture, cloud environments, infrastructure, Linux/Red Hat, system integration, and modernization initiatives., * Design, develop, and maintain system architectures involving applications, infrastructure, cloud platforms, networks, and integrated services.

• Provide technical leadership and guidance across teams throughout system development and modernization efforts.
• Analyze requirements and translate them into secure, scalable, and maintainable system solutions.
• Support system modernization and migration initiatives, assessing environments, dependencies, risks, and architecture paths.
• Ensure system performance, reliability, and security through proactive monitoring and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with development, DevOps, security, and infrastructure teams to align system designs with technical and mission needs.
• Support Linux and Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments, including configuration, troubleshooting, and modernization activities.
• Apply automation tools such as Ansible and scripting languages to improve operational efficiency.
• Assist with cloud environments, utilizing AWS or similar platforms, supporting CI/CD pipelines and automation.
• Identify dependencies, risks, and performance issues, providing actionable recommendations.
• Incorporate cybersecurity principles into system architecture and design.
• Develop technical documentation, including diagrams, specifications, and interface descriptions.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, technical reviews, and continuous improvement activities.
• Communicate complex technical concepts to teams, leadership, and stakeholders.

• 6+ years in systems, software, or infrastructure engineering or related fields.
• Proven experience in systems architecture, distributed systems, and system integration.
• Experience supporting or modernizing systems in cloud or hybrid environments.
• Knowledge of networking, operating systems, and enterprise integration.
• Working familiarity with Python, Java, Bash, PowerShell, or similar scripting languages.
• Skilled in translating requirements into technical solutions and troubleshooting complex issues.
• Experience working within Agile environments and cross-functional teams.
• Strong problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.

Nice to Have

• Federal government program support experience.
• System, application, or cloud migration and modernization background.
• Hands-on experience with Linux and Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
• Experience with Ansible, AWS, or Microsoft Azure.
• Knowledge of DevOps practices and security principles.
• Certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect, Red Hat, CISSP, or similar.
