Job description

  • Establish and deploy the foundational GraphQL platform in a non-production environment (if not already completed by the time they onboard).
  • Deliver reusable patterns for onboarding new services and domain modules.
  • Implement secure authentication and authorization frameworks.
  • Establish logging, monitoring, tracing, and resiliency standards.
  • Define GraphQL governance and schema management practices.
  • Enable channel teams to consume platform capabilities through governed GraphQL contracts.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

  • Lead technical decisions for the DDEV BFF platform they must be able to understand the application architecture inside and out.
  • Establish coding standards and engineering best practices.
  • Design GraphQL schemas and service integration patterns.
  • Drive decisions related to security, scalability, observability, and resiliency.
  • Mentor engineers through technical reviews and coaching.

Engineering & Platform Development

  • Develop and maintain .NET-based GraphQL services.
  • Design integrations with downstream platform services.
  • Implement authentication, authorization, and service governance capabilities.
  • Build reusable platform components and shared frameworks.
  • Establish monitoring, logging, tracing, and operational standards.
  • Partner with DevOps teams on CI/CD, containerization, and deployment automation.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with Product, Architecture, Quality Engineering, and Platform teams.
  • Support technical planning and delivery activities.
  • Drive alignment with our key stakeholder, David, and engineering teams.
  • Contribute to architectural documentation and onboarding materials.

Skills and Tools Needed

Requirements

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience.
  • 3+ years in a Lead Engineer or Principal Engineer role.

Expert-level experience with:

  • C#
  • .NET / Core
  • REST APIs
  • Microservices architecture
  • Distributed systems
  • Dependency Injection
  • Asynchronous programming

Strong experience with:

  • GraphQL (Hot Chocolate)
  • Backend for Frontend (BFF) patterns
  • API governance and contract management
  • Service orchestration and aggregation
  • Authentication and authorization frameworks
  • OAuth2, OpenID Connect, and JWT
  • Resiliency patterns including Circuit Breaker, Retry, and Fallback

  • Azure

  • Docker
  • Kubernetes
  • Infrastructure as Code concepts
  • OpenTelemetry, Application Insights, Datadog, and/or Elastic

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
