Job description

  • Responsible for transmission line designs from conceptual engineering through final design, including EFM, conductor sizing, induction, impedance, losses, and voltage drop analysis.

  • Provides senior-level technical expertise ensuring technical accuracy, best practices, and industry-leading design solutions.

  • Perform key engineering studies such as conductor economic evaluations, lightning performance, grounding calculations, and electrical clearance determinations per NESC and applicable standards.

  • Interpret and apply regulatory requirements including NERC, FERC, and regional standards, and ensure compliance across project deliverables.

  • Prepare and review technical documentation such as specifications, data sheets, RFQs, bid evaluations, vendor drawings, and purchase recommendations.

  • Collaborate with project managers on scopes, schedules, budgets, staffing plans, construction support, and change order management.

  • Perform and review QA/QC for engineering deliverables, production drawings, CAD outputs, and construction administration activities, resolving design-related field issues.

  • Conduct and lead field inspections , measurements, calculations, and installation reviews for both public and private clients.

  • Develop and present technical reports , support marketing and business development efforts, and build strong relationships with clients and contractors.

Requirements

  • Highly motivated engineer who takes pride in delivering exceptional services and ensuring projects are completed accurately and on schedule

  • Demonstrates initiative, self-sufficiency, and the ability to work productively from a home office without direct supervision

  • Committed to continuous learning and process improvement, consistently seeking opportunities to enhance quality and efficiency

  • Embraces new responsibilities and eagerly acquires new skill sets as needed to support evolving project and industry demands., + B.S. in Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, or Power Engineering (or related field)

  • 5+ years of transmission line engineering experience (design, analysis, modeling, or similar)

  • 5+ years of experience working with an electric utility, EPC, or engineering consulting firm

  • 5+ years of experience working in PLS-CADD

What we would like you to have (preferred qualifications):

  • Knowledge of the practical application of industry standards such as: NESC , IEEE , ANSI , FERC-881 , and FAC-008 standards

  • Ability to plan and manage assignments and clearly communicate barriers to complete tasks on budget/schedule
