Job description

The Platform Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, deploying, and enhancing technology platforms-including infrastructure, global networks, and public cloud environments-to support a wide range of business applications. Working closely with Systems Engineers, application development teams, security, and business partners, the Platform Engineer improves developer experience and software delivery through cloud-native technologies, DevOps principles, and Infrastructure as Code. This role requires deep expertise in one or more platform domains and a hands-on approach to building secure, compliant, and highly automated platform environments at enterprise scale.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in and attending school, pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Information Technology, Security or a related technical field with expected graduation by August 2027.
  • Completion of the 2026 Lilly technology summer internship or spring fellowship.
  • Qualified applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Lilly will not provide support for or sponsor work authorization or visas for this role, including but not limited to F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, F-1 STEM OPT, J-1, H-1B, TN, O-1, E-3, H-1B1, or L-1.

Additional Skills & Preferences

  • Prior experience using AI tools (e.g., generative AI platforms, automation tools, or AI-assisted research/analytics tools) in an academic, project, or work setting.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and communication skills, working across global, inclusive teams.
  • Knowledge of Agile principles and frameworks (e.g., Scrum, SAFe).

Benefits & conditions

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is $82,000 (Bachelors) - $100,000 (Masters)

Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
