Job description

QuEra Computing is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join a fast-growing startup and help build the next generation of quantum computer management systems. In this role, you’ll contribute to our controls infrastructure and calibration services and help shape how we operationalize Quantum Computers.

The role offers immediate ownership of mission-critical code, daily collaboration with physicists, hardware engineers, and senior developers.

No prior experience in quantum computing is necessary, making this an excellent chance to step into the field.

Requirements

  • 5-10 years of professional software development experience
  • Self-motivated team player with a strong sense of ownership
  • Extensive experience with C++ and Python
  • Strong sense of algorithmic efficiency and system scalability
  • Familiarity with Docker and/or Kubernetes
  • Strong debug and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong understanding of HTTP and RESTful web services

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with distributed cloud native architectures
  • Experience with micro services and event-driven architectures
  • Experience with event streaming platforms like Pulsar, Kafka, Pub/Sub, or Kinesis
  • Experience designing systems for ease of use and operation
  • Experience leveraging AI to quickly develop and test quality solutions
  • Experience analyzing and fitting scientific data, particularly data generated by scientific instruments, to extract meaningful insights and optimize system performance.
  • Hands-on experience with SQL and NoSQL databases

Nice to Have

  • Experience working in agile, scrum, or kanban environments
  • Experience or exposure to embedded development concepts
  • Experience with other self-diagnostic systems (medical/automotive)
  • Background including Physics/Math
  • Quantum-curious, though not required
