Applied Cybersecurity Engineer, Associate

MITRE’s Mission Resilience and Crypto Department seeks a passionate, talented engineer to enhance cyber resiliency in US Air Force (AF) systems. The successful candidate will support the implementation of cyber resilient capabilities with a focus on research, development, and engineering aimed at maximizing the trust and assurance of systems, software, and protocols. • Typically requires less than 1 year of related experience with a related Bachelor’s degree in cyber, electrical engineering, systems engineering, aerospace engineering, or similar field.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance
• Basic knowledge of systems engineering and cyber security processes and tools.
• Good organizational, writing, and presentation skills.
• Ability to work successfully in small teams of engineers and collaborate on engineering products, demonstrations, and presentations.
• Prior experience as an intern at MITRE in the last 12 months.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Hands-on experience with DoD systems, specifically aircraft avionics and mission systems.
• Basic understanding and experience with embedded serial protocols such I2C, SPI, UART, MIL-STD-1553, 1394b, ARINC-429, etc.
• Proficiency with scripting and general programming.
• Experience presenting technical material in the form of proposals, white papers, technical reports, and presentations.
• 1 year of experience in cyber or related engineering field.
