Job description

Are you passionate about building the infrastructure that empowers engineering teams to ship software faster, safer, and more reliably? We’re looking for a Software Development Manager to lead a team of engineers dedicated to CI/CD pipelines, release management, and build engineering. In this role, you’ll own the systems and processes that keep our software delivery engine running smoothly from code commit to production deployment.

You’ll drive improvements in pipeline health, reduce build times, increase release velocity, and raise the bar on engineering productivity across the organization. You’ll work closely with development teams, operations, and leadership to define and execute a roadmap that makes releasing software a seamless, low-risk experience. If you love solving complex automation challenges, thrive on deployment management, and want to have an outsized impact on how an entire organization delivers software, this is the role for you.

Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum., Pipeline Health & Reliability: Own end-to-end health of CI/CD pipelines, including monitoring, alerting, and rapid resolution of pipeline failures. Define and track key metrics (build success rate, pipeline duration, mean time to recovery) to continuously improve reliability.

  • Release Management: Establish and refine release processes, coordinating cross-team release schedules, go/no-go decisions, and rollback procedures. Ensure releases are predictable, well-documented, and low-risk.

  • Build Engineering: Lead the design and optimization of build systems and tooling. Drive initiatives to reduce build times, eliminate flaky tests, and improve developer feedback loops.

  • CI/CD Strategy & Automation: Define the technical vision for continuous integration and continuous delivery. Evaluate and adopt tools, frameworks, and best practices that accelerate the software delivery lifecycle.

  • Team Leadership & Development: Hire, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of build and release engineers. Foster a culture of operational excellence, ownership, and continuous improvement.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with software development teams, QA, and operations to understand pain points in the development workflow and deliver solutions that improve overall engineering velocity.

  • Operational Excellence: Establish runbooks, on-call processes, and incident response procedures for build and release infrastructure. Conduct post-mortems and drive corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

  • Roadmap & Prioritization: Balance long-term strategic investments (platform modernization, tooling upgrades) with near-term operational needs. Communicate progress and trade-offs clearly to stakeholders and leadership.

Requirements

5+ years of providing technical leadership and project management for all aspects of the software development lifecycle experience

  • 5+ years of Software Engineer, Software Developer, or related occupational experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
