Job description
This position requires a candidate with in-depth Mainframe DB2 DBA (DB2 on z/OS) knowledge with a focus on performance tuning. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing log scraping strategies, building monitoring dashboards, managing database security, and supporting a stable production environment within a large financial institution. This role has a hybrid schedule requirement of a minimum of 3 days per week onsite., * Develop log scraping strategies to limit CPU, memory usage, and staging space
- Build Splunk dashboards to monitor the Db2 environment
- Work with other DB2 teams in setting up log retention policies
- Translate business requirements into a physical model for implementation
- Consult with application teams on ACF2 and RACF managed database security
- Define and implement application-specific backup and recovery strategies
- Support product upgrades related to DB2 replication
- Provide performance tuning support and recommendations for database calls
- Monitor and address items on exception reports to ensure a stable production environment
- Support DBA production on-call rotation including 24x7 SEV1 test support
- Support Self Identified Audits, Control assessments, Database Audits, and SOX reviews
Requirements
- Minimum of 7-9 years of DB2 DBA experience on z/OS, preferably at a single large financial institution
- Experience with DB2 Utilities including IBM and BMC
- Working knowledge of BMC tools including Change Manager, Catalog Manager, Mainview, and SQL Performance
- Solid understanding of DB2 recovery options
- Broad understanding of ACF2 and RACF2 managed security for DB2 Access
- Working knowledge of Endevor
- Working knowledge of ITSM Processes and tools including BMC Remedy
- In-depth understanding of Db2 zOS, JCL, COBOL, and SQL
- Understanding of SMF data and reporting
