Data and Applied AI Engineer

An ideal candidate will collaborate with our partner teams to design and implement data solutions to support the business needs. We are looking for someone with a love for data and ability to iterate quickly on all stages of data pipelines.

This position involves working on a small team to develop large scale data pipelines and backend services using microservices and big data technologies.

Successful candidates will have strong AI, engineering and communication skills.

Responsibilities:

Develop Distributed Data Processing Systems: Design and build scalable, highly available distributed systems for large-scale data processing and analytics, ensuring consistent results and significant impact on stakeholders.

Collaborate with TV and Video Teams: Partner with Apple TV and Video teams to develop and enhance data platforms, delivering solutions that significantly impact Apple TV and Sports products.

Leverage AI for Automation: Leverage AI to develop agents that help in automating routine work and provide new capabilities for stakeholders., Design and Develop Microservices: Create and maintain backend services using microservices architecture and big data technologies, supporting large-scale data pipelines.

Capture and Translate Requirements: Gather cross-functional requirements and translate them into practical engineering tasks, ensuring alignment with project goals and objectives.

Create Architecture and Design Documents: Develop detailed architecture and design documentation, guiding the engineering team in building robust and scalable data processing systems.

Ensure Data Privacy Compliance: Uphold Apple’s core values by ensuring all systems and solutions comply with Apple’s privacy policy, maintaining data security and privacy standards.

Maintain and Improve Code Quality: Demonstrate a passion for quality by understanding complex systems, writing clean, efficient code, and continuously improving the software engineering process.

Good understanding of software engineering principles and fundamentals including algorithms and data structures.

Self-directed, self-motivated and able to create architecture and design documents.

Ability to capture cross-functional requirements and translate them into practical engineering tasks.

Minimum Qualifications

3+ years of programming experience in Java or Scala.

Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent technical discipline and experience working with large scale distributed data processing technologies and developing AI agents.

Experience in working with big data and distributed systems.

Experience developing microservices and REST APIs.

Experience working with LLMs and developing AI agents.

Design & build LLM-powered applications, and intelligent agents at scale

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $142,300 and $263,300, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
