Job description
The Data Specialist will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of the company’s master data, specifically focusing on material and customer data within our SAP environment as we transition to S/4HANA Cloud. This position will be responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle management of master data, including creation, maintenance, and governance, to support efficient business operations and reliable reporting.
The Data Specialist will collaborate closely with various business units including Credit and trade as well as IT and other stakeholders to uphold data quality standards and promote data governance best practices. This role will be regionally assigned and will receive comprehensive training across various master data domains., This role follows a flexible hybrid schedule, with two days per week in the office and three days working from home., * Data Entry and Maintenance
- Efficiently process the creation, modification, and inactivation of material master data, including product information and packaging details, while ensuring strict adherence to established data standards and business rules. Utilize the Automate Evolve platform to streamline processes.
- Create, maintain, and enrich customer master data , such as customer profiles, sales areas, and credit information, to support accurate account management and sales operations.
- Conduct regular data quality checks and audits to identify and resolve discrepancies, ensuring data accuracy and completeness.
- Implement and enforce data governance policies, procedures, and standards for material and customer master data, meeting assigned SLAs for data creation and maintenance.
- Data Governance and Quality
- Work closely with business process owners to define and document data definitions, standards, and business rules for material and customer master data.
- Monitor data quality metrics and develop strategies for continuous improvement.
- Engage in data governance committees or working groups to address data-related issues and promote best practices.
- Provide training and support to end-users on master data processes and system functionalities.
- Track and publish data quality KPIs, such as accuracy and completeness, and escalate sustained breaches.
- Ensure customer and vendor master data is handled in accordance with CCPA and internal security protocols; partner with InfoSec on internal audits.
- Project Work
- Participate in project work such as new supplier onboarding, M&A, and S/4 upgrade as assigned.
- Execute transformation, mapping, and integration of data during major business expansions, including supplier or new markets entries.
- Problem Solving and Support
- Investigate and resolve master data-related issues and inquiries from various business departments.
- Work cross-functionally to identify root causes of data errors and implement corrective actions.
- Support data migration and integration activities for new business initiatives or system enhancements.
- Other duties, as assigned by the jobholder’s supervisor, may also be required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in related field and/or equivalent training and work experience
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in master data input and maintenance using SAP ERP systems (either ECC or S/4 HANA).
- Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, SQL) and an understanding of database concepts.
- Knowledge of data-governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK) and stewardship tools (SAP MDG)
- Proficiency with SharePoint & SAP Information Steward (web-based applications)
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Must be a results-oriented professional with verbal/written communication skills using diplomacy and discretion as well as customer service skills
- Ability to multi-task, work independently and/or within a team, pay attention to detail and meet deadlines
- Utilize sound judgement and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in fast-paced, high-volume, team environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1-3 years overall work experience within beverage alcohol and/or CPG industry
- Experience leveraging Automate Evolve solutions
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone
