Job description

We are looking for an experienced OpenCPI Lead Software Engineer to join our growing team at our Gloucester site. As a Lead OpenCPI Engineer, you will be responsible for utilizing the OpenCPI framework to build, test, and optimize software-defined radio systems and RF applications. You’ll mentor junior staff, refine our ways of working, and act as a consultant to clients and third parties.

You’ll be the technical expert building the next wave of National Security and defence-grade RF cyber capabilities., * OpenCPI Framework Utilization - Lead the development and integration of software-defined radio (SDR) systems using the OpenCPI framework.

  • System Design & Integration - Be the subject matter expert within a cross-functional team designing and integrating RF communication systems, ensuring seamless operation within complex mission environments.
  • Test & Measurement - Implement test driven development strategies and consider testing throughout the development lifecycle of an application, leveraging OpenCPI for effective system verification and validation.
  • Technical Leadership - Mentor junior engineers, lead design reviews, act in the capacity of subject matter expert, and take ownership of the evolution of our technical standards.
  • Consultation - You’ll interact directly with other teams and stakeholders on a daily basis in order to ensure the wider success of our clients and partners
  • Innovation - Continue our efforts to push the boundaries of OpenCPI development using the latest AI/ML tooling and hybrid cloud compute environments enabling our growth to outpace our team size.
  • Collaboration & Reporting - Work closely with engineering and customer teams, providing detailed reports on system performance, issues, and proposed solutions.

Security Clearance

This role requires you to be able to obtain and maintain eDV security clearance.

You don’t need to hold eDV clearance when you apply. If you don’t currently have it, we’ll support you through the application process.

Requirements

It is expected that you can evidence significant experience in one of the following:

  • Working as a senior or lead developer using the OpenCPI framework, including the development of OSPs, components, applications and tests
  • Strong background in RF communications and software-defined radio technologies & architectures
  • Expertise in digital signal processing, algorithm or payload development, and embedded system design
  • Proficient in C/C++ and/or VHDL for embedded applications, and additionally with Python

Desired Skills

  • EW or SIGINT capability development (including RF waveform and protocol vulnerability analysis)
  • FPGA/RFSOC development experience and proficiency in VHDL (or Verilog)
  • Familiarity with GnuRadio, MatLab, AMD EDF or other SDR development tools
  • Commercial and Military communications stacks and modem development (e.g IEEE 802.x, COFDM, Satcoms, or Link 16)
  • Working in AWS and CICD pipelined environments, especially with GitLab and Linux
  • Real-time test and measurement, using tools such as vector signal analyzers
  • Leading technical projects, budgets and teams
