Job description

The Digital Modernization Sector within Leidos supports the DoD Mobility Classified Capability (DMCC) program as part of GSM-O II in San Antonio, TX, providing DISA NetOps / Tier-III HelpDesk support on a fully-billable enterprise IT contract. The team manages an infrastructure comprised of Windows servers, Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers, network appliances, and applications supporting voice and data services, ensuring secure, reliable, and uninterrupted availability of the DoD’s secure mobile device capability., The Systems Administrator/Sr. Site Support Specialist will be responsible for Tier-III HelpDesk support, handling service inquiries, troubleshooting complex problems, performing technical software configuration, and providing customer support. This role requires strong knowledge of Windows and Linux server operations, sustainment, and management, working as part of a Network Operations team responsible for a variety of servers, network appliances, and applications. This is a 100% onsite position at the San Antonio, TX site, working a permanent 3rd shift schedule (Sunday-Wednesday, 8:00 PM-6:00 AM)., * Support the DISA NetOps / Tier-III HelpDesk for the DoD Mobility Classified Capability (DMCC) program under GSM-O II, handling service inquiries, troubleshooting complex problems, performing technical software configuration, and providing customer support.

  • Monitor and maintain an enterprise services environment consisting of Windows servers, Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers, and network appliances.
  • Assist mission partners with mobile device VPN connectivity debugging, user account and device management, and troubleshooting system/service access issues.
  • Perform configuration updates and maintenance activities to patch, secure, and maintain systems.
  • Respond to, and help analyze, issues that degrade system or network performance to minimize downtime.
  • Address moderately complex technical issues using internal SOPs and collaboration with team members.
  • Help create and update documentation for common issues and processes to contribute to the team’s knowledge base.
  • Provide input on ways to optimize processes and improve the efficiency of the environment.
  • Support occasional after-hours maintenance and be available for 2-hour onsite call-back support for critical issues.

Requirements

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT: Active DoD Secret clearance required prior to start. DoD-8570 IAT Level II certification (Security+ CE) required within 6 months of hire date. No additional onboarding requirements beyond these., * Bachelor’s degree and 2-4 years of related experience, or Master’s degree with a minimum of 2 years of related experience. Additional experience, education, and training may be considered in lieu of degree.

  • Active DoD Secret clearance or higher.
  • DoD-8570 IAT Level II certification (Security+ CE) required within 6 months of hire date.
  • Experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, and DNS.
  • Experience with Linux (RHEL 8 or 9).
  • Networking experience using Cisco, Aruba, and/or Juniper devices.
  • Experience with Cybersecurity tools and scanning (ACAS, Tenable, or Ansible).
  • Experience troubleshooting issues with software applications, networking, Windows OS, and Linux OS.
  • Experience performing system administration tasks - installing, maintaining, monitoring, recovering, rebuilding, upgrading, and patching.
  • Experience researching technical solutions beyond internal SOPs.
  • Strong knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and protocols.
  • Willingness to work with multiple technologies and be open to learning new technologies.
  • Motivated self-starter with strong work ethic and ability to work with minimal supervision in the fulfillment of daily operations and sustainment activities.
  • Ability to demonstrate good judgement, professionalism, and communicate clearly (verbal and written).
  • Strong problem solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills.

DESIRED:

  • Expert knowledge of security, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery protocols.
  • Experience configuring and maintaining network devices - switches, routers, firewalls, VPNs.
  • Experience with scripting or automation tools.
  • Experience with SCCM (Systems Center Configuration Manager).
  • Experience with VMWare - ESX/ESXi, vCenter, vSphere - or equivalent virtualization platforms.
  • Experience with SQL, MySQL, SELinux.
  • Knowledge of networking concepts such as the OSI Model, LAN/WAN, IPv4/IPv6, subnetting, and VLANs.
  • Experience maintaining systems and services in an air-gapped environment.
  • Knowledge of security policies such as DISA STIGs and general vulnerability management.
  • Certifications with major system vendors such as Microsoft, Red Hat, VMware, Cisco, Juniper, or Aruba.
  • Experience in multiple OS platforms with strong emphasis on Linux (CentOS, Red Hat, Ubuntu), Mac OS X, and Windows systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of the TCP/IP protocol suite, security architecture, and securing/hardening Operating Systems, Networks, Databases, and Applications.
  • Experience with Tier 2 system administration.
  • Experience with server patch management methodologies.
  • Excellent customer service skills complemented by an ability to listen to and interpret client requests.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Track record of working effectively within a team, and supporting peers toward improved processes and results.
  • Experience with support ticket management systems.
