Job description
Ford is looking for a Contract Audio Engineer to support embedded audio tuning and tools development for our IVI/vehicle audio programs. This role is centered on building Python-based audio tools, developing signal processing features, and supporting audio tuning workflows using Sigma Studio. This is a remote position requiring travel to Long Beach, CA, Palo Alto, CA, and Dearborn, MI. Candidates of any experience level are welcome to apply, provided they bring strong hands-on audio tuning skills for embedded systems., * Develop and maintain Python-based tools to support audio tuning, measurement, and analysis workflows.
- Design and implement signal processing features (filters, dynamics processing, EQ, crossover, latency management) for embedded audio applications.
- Perform and support audio tuning on embedded/DSP-based systems using Sigma Studio.
- Support feature development for audio pipeline enhancements requested by engineering and program teams.
- Debug and validate audio signal chains from input source through embedded DSP/output stage, including systems using AVB/AVTP streaming and A2B networking.
- Collaborate with full-time engineering staff on tool integration, test automation, and documentation.
- Travel to Long Beach, Palo Alto, and Dearborn sites as needed for integration, testing, and collaboration activities.
- Provide clear documentation of tools, tuning parameters, and processes for handoff/reuse.

Requirements
- Hands-on experience with audio tuning for embedded systems.
- Working knowledge of Sigma Studio (Analog Devices DSP tuning environment) - required.
- Proficiency in Python, specifically for building audio tools/utilities.
- Solid understanding of signal processing concepts and practical feature development experience.
- Familiarity with audio networking protocols/technologies: AVB, AVTP streaming, A2B.
- Comfortable working independently in a contract capacity with minimal ramp-up time.
- Available for a minimum 6-month contract commitment.
Willing and able to travel to Long Beach, Palo Alto, and Dearborn as needed. - Familiarity with automotive audio systems (infotainment, Chimes, Horn, AVAS) - a plus but not required.
- Familiarity with embedded firmware/RTOS environments.
- Experience with audio measurement equipment and test automation.
