Job description

Kforce’s client in Okemos, MI that seeking a hands-on Quality Engineer/SDET to help drive both automated and manual testing across modern web applications and APIs. This role requires someone who can build and maintain scalable automation solutions, investigate complex failures, validate backend data, and contribute to overall quality engineering strategy. This individual will work closely with developers, product owners, and other technical stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle. Key Responsibilities:

  • Expand and improve existing automation frameworks, including reusable components, utilities, fixtures, and coding standards
  • Build automated test coverage for modern web applications and RESTful APIs
  • Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines
  • Investigate test failures using application logs, network activity, API responses, database queries, and automation diagnostics
  • Validate application functionality and backend data using SQL
  • Perform exploratory, functional, integration, regression, and risk-based manual testing
  • Review requirements and acceptance criteria to identify gaps, edge cases, risks, and testability concerns
  • Collaborate with developers, product owners, and testers throughout story development
  • Participate in code reviews and continuously improve the reliability and maintainability of automated test suites
  • Identify and address flaky, redundant, slow, or low-value tests

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience with Playwright and TypeScript for UI and API automation
  • Strong programming fundamentals and experience designing maintainable test automation
  • Experience testing modern web applications
  • Experience testing RESTful APIs
  • Strong understanding of HTTP, REST, JSON, authentication, response validation, and negative testing
  • SQL experience for backend data validation
  • Experience integrating or executing automated tests through CI/CD platforms
  • Experience with Git-based source control and collaborative development workflows
  • Ability to diagnose issues across the UI, API, database, test code, test data, and environment layers
  • Experience with exploratory and manual testing in addition to automation
  • Ability to work independently and clearly communicate defects, risks, and quality concerns
  • Accountable for reviewing and validating all AI-assisted work to ensure correctness, security, maintainability, and alignment with established engineering standards
