Job description

  • Partner with the Director of Advancement Operations in developing and performing complex data and trend analyses on information in the database in support of APU’s fundraising strategy and activities.

Report Analysis and Development

  • Alongside Advancement management, prepares a suite of reports and queries to provide timely and accurate data to support the donor identification and solicitation goals of the Advancement and Alumni departments.
  • Develops a comprehensive set of management reports that will meet internal and external reporting requirements (i.e., board reports, comparative data sets, departmental performance, and campaign preparedness, etc.).

Data Extraction Analysis and Development

  • Execute data requests through creating and running queries and exports Slate for Advancement and Access.
  • Proactively design, test and implement process improvements for major recurring data requests (e.g., APU Life, Dinner Rally, Direct Mail, Phonathon, and DonorSearchAi) as necessary.
  • Develop reporting through data visualization tools such as Tableau, HelioCampus, and Slate for Advancement
  • Certify validity of results of data request solutions, for stated requirements, and for overall strategic Advancement directives or other applicable constraints (legal, postal, etc.).
  • Provides additional line of support to the Advancement and Alumni offices and other colleagues to meet project deadlines as necessary.

Data Support

  • Work with Advancement Services and team leaders in maintaining relationships with University Data Analysts and the Office of Information and Media Technology.
  • Develop knowledge of the fields and records in related APU databases and the tools used to generate reports, lists, data extracts, etc.
  • Oversee training and support users of the Advancement data systems as directed by the supervisor.
  • Process data requests from the university schools and departments as assigned.
  • Assist the data team in resolving bio data anomalies, verifying data transfer accuracy, donor accuracy, etc. by developing queries, MS Office processes and direct examination.
  • Assist the data team in documenting new and revised procedures the data team uses in completing major and recurring projects, and in maintaining data request completion logs
  • Assist in supporting users of the Advancement data systems as directed by the supervisor.
  • Responsible for daily electronic timekeeping as it applies to the scope of this position.
  • Regular, punctual attendance as required by the supervisor based on department needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned related to the position as requested by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required., * Two to five years of experience in data extraction and manipulation.
  • Experience in higher education fundraising office preferred., * Proven ability to communicate effectively with administration and staff, both non-technical end-users and technically skilled information systems staff.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills.
  • An in-depth understanding of relational database concepts, complex data structures and relationships.
  • Ability to work independently within a collaborative team environment.

Technologies

  • Proficient in the use of Google Apps.
  • Extensive experience with MS Word, Excel and MS Access or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of SQL.
  • Strongly Preferred: Hands-on experience with Slate for Advancement, Tableau software, and SQL.

Benefits & conditions

  • Grade 10: $25.94 to $29.83 is the hourly compensation for this role and reflects what Azusa Pacific University reasonably expects to pay for this position. Actual compensation may vary based on the qualifications, experience, and internal equity. In addition to compensation, APU offers a competitive benefits package.
