Job description

Seneca Resources is seeking an experienced Senior QA Test Automation Engineer to lead and execute complex software testing initiatives across integration, regression, functional, and system integration testing environments.

The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience developing comprehensive test strategies, creating complex test plans and test cases, executing automated and manual testing, troubleshooting automation failures, and performing advanced defect root-cause analysis. This role will collaborate closely with developers, business stakeholders, product teams, and technology professionals to ensure high-quality software releases and alignment with business requirements.

This is an excellent opportunity for a senior-level QA professional who enjoys solving complex testing challenges, mentoring peers, improving testing processes, and working independently in a fast-paced Agile environment., * Develop and maintain complex test plans, test strategies, test cases, and testing documentation using established QA standards and templates.

  • Lead and coordinate System Integration Testing (SIT), functional testing, regression testing, and integration testing for complex applications and systems.
  • Analyze functional and technical requirements and translate them into comprehensive test scenarios and test cases.
  • Design manual test cases with test automation in mind and identify opportunities for automation and process improvement.
  • Execute and troubleshoot automated test scripts and resolve automation-related issues.
  • Develop and maintain automated end-to-end test cases using established automation frameworks and best practices.
  • Utilize UFT (Unified Functional Testing) to execute and maintain automated test cases.
  • Update automation parameterization files and troubleshoot test execution issues within UFT-based testing environments.
  • Use XPath and browser developer tools to troubleshoot web element and automation issues.
  • Identify, document, prioritize, and track software defects/bugs throughout the defect lifecycle.
  • Perform advanced root-cause analysis of defects and provide detailed technical findings to development teams.
  • Analyze test results and communicate recommendations, risks, alternatives, blockers, and downstream impacts to project stakeholders.
  • Create testing deliverables including test results, defect documentation, knowledge articles, test sign-offs, and status reports.
  • Participate in SDLC activities and contribute to Agile development initiatives using SAFe Agile methodologies.
  • Support project estimation, sizing, planning, and testing activities for complex technology initiatives.
  • Collaborate with developers, business analysts, product owners, business partners, and other cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to improve QA processes, testing methodologies, automation coverage, and overall quality engineering practices.
  • Evaluate the downstream testing impacts of changes to applications, products, policies, procedures, processes, and technology.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and coaching to other QA and testing professionals.
  • Independently manage assigned testing activities while maintaining strong attention to quality, accuracy, deadlines, and established processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • 10+ years of professional experience in software/technology testing or quality assurance.
  • Strong experience with manual and automated software testing.
  • Advanced knowledge of test planning, test case development, test execution, defect management, and QA processes.
  • Hands-on experience with functional, integration, regression, and system integration testing.
  • Experience developing and troubleshooting test automation scripts.
  • Experience with UFT (Unified Functional Testing) or comparable enterprise test automation frameworks.
  • Experience troubleshooting web automation using XPath and browser developer tools.
  • Strong understanding of SDLC/STLC processes and software testing methodologies.
  • Experience working within Agile/Scrum and/or SAFe Agile environments.
  • Strong understanding of database technologies and experience validating application data.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, research, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience performing root-cause analysis and communicating technical findings to development teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, planning, prioritization, and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to software quality.
  • ISTQB Foundation Level (CTFL) certification preferred.
  • DevOps Institute DevOps Foundation (DOFD) certification preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience serving as a QA/Test Automation subject matter expert (SME).
  • Experience mentoring or providing technical guidance to other QA professionals.
  • Experience with enterprise-scale applications and complex technology environments.
  • Knowledge of financial services or other highly regulated technology environments.
  • Experience identifying opportunities for test automation, QA process optimization, and continuous improvement.
