Job description

This role will be responsible for defining the Enterprise Label Architecture, establishing template governance standards, and designing integrations between SAP, MES, TekLynx, CodeSoft, RFID, printers, and shop-floor systems to ensure that the correct label is printed for the correct material at the correct time. The Label Architect will partner closely with Manufacturing Operations Management, Quality, MES, SAP, OT, Infrastructure, and Plant Engineering teams to deliver a scalable global solution that improves compliance, traceability, operational reliability, and manufacturing efficiency while reducing technical debt and localized support models., Label Platform Architecture

  • Define and maintain the global label printing architecture across manufacturing facilities.
  • Develop architectural standards for label generation, routing, printer management, template governance, and data integration.
  • Establish long-term design principles supporting global scalability, supportability, and operational resilience.
  • Create enterprise standards for label lifecycle management, version control, approvals, and deployment. Template Governance & Design Standards

  • Lead development of global label template standards within CodeSoft and TekLynx.
  • Define reusable label components, naming conventions, data structures, and template governance processes.
  • Ensure compliance with product identification, regulatory, quality, traceability, and customer labeling requirements.
  • Govern change control processes associated with label modifications and new product introductions. Manufacturing Systems Integration

  • Design and deliver integrations between SAP, MES platforms, TekLynx, CodeSoft, scanners, RFID devices, and printing infrastructure.
  • Define master data requirements and data flow architecture supporting real-time label generation.
  • Establish source-of-truth principles for all label content and manufacturing transactions.
  • Ensure architecture supports automated validation, print controls, traceability, auditability, and future digital manufacturing initiatives. Plant Deployment Leadership

  • Partner with implementation teams during pilot and rollout activities.
  • Conduct site assessments and identify local process variations requiring standardization.
  • Create repeatable deployment frameworks supporting global expansion.
  • Provide technical leadership during testing, commissioning, hypercare, and stabilization activities. Traceability & Compliance

  • Design solutions supporting end-to-end traceability across WIP, finished goods, containers, pallets, QA release, rework, and salvage processes.
  • Ensure architecture supports barcode, RFID, vision validation, and audit trail requirements.
  • Develop standards for controlled reprints, operator accountability, exception handling, and security governance.
  • Support quality, warranty, regulatory, and customer compliance objectives. Vendor & Technology Leadership

  • Serve as primary technical lead for TekLynx, CodeSoft, printer manufacturers, RFID technologies, and related solution providers.
  • Evaluate hardware and software solutions to support standardization goals.
  • Drive vendor design reviews and technical governance processes. DELIVERABLES The successful candidate will:

  • Establish a globally governed label architecture that eliminates fragmented local solutions.
  • Create reusable standards enabling rapid and repeatable plant deployments.
  • Improve label accuracy, reliability, traceability, and compliance across Manufacturing Operations.
  • Reduce technical debt and support complexity through standardization.
  • Design scalable integrations supporting future MES, RFID, vision inspection, and Digital Manufacturing initiatives.
  • Enable deployment of a global manufacturing label platform capable of standard operation across North America, Europe, and other of the clients manufacturing locations. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline.
  • 8+ years of experience in manufacturing systems architecture, industrial automation, MES, SAP, or related manufacturing technology environments.
  • 5+ years of experience designing and implementing enterprise label printing solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with TekLynx, CodeSoft, Sentinel Manager.
  • Experience integrating labeling solutions with ERP and MES systems.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, packaging operations, traceability, and shop-floor automation.
  • Experience designing highly available production systems across multiple manufacturing facilities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with Apriso MES environments.
  • Experience implementing RFID-enabled manufacturing solutions.
  • Knowledge of barcode standards, GS1 requirements, serialization, and regulatory labeling requirements.
  • Experience supporting global manufacturing deployments.
  • Familiarity with Zebra and industrial printing technologies.
  • Experience in welding, industrial manufacturing, metals, or discrete manufacturing environments.
  • Experience establishing enterprise governance frameworks and design standards.
