Job description
We are seeking an experienced data center professional who is comfortable working hands-on with servers, storage, networking equipment, racks, cabling, power, and hardware deployments. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being on the data center floor, installing and decommissioning equipment, troubleshooting hardware, maintaining accurate inventory, and ensuring infrastructure is deployed safely and according to established standards.
In addition to daily operations, this person will help the team work smarter by identifying inefficient processes, improving documentation, standardizing workflows, and leveraging Microsoft tools such as SharePoint and Teams to reduce manual work and improve visibility., * Install, remove, relocate, and troubleshoot servers, storage, and network equipment.
- Perform rack-and-stack, rail installation, equipment mounting, and hardware deployments.
- Install, route, patch, label, and manage copper and fiber cabling.
- Validate power connections, PDU assignments, and equipment readiness.
- Support hardware refreshes, decommissions, asset tracking, and inventory management.
- Maintain rack elevations, documentation, and data center records.
- Troubleshoot basic hardware and connectivity issues.
- Follow data center safety, security, and change management procedures.
- Identify opportunities to standardize processes, reduce manual work, and improve operational efficiency.
- Use SharePoint, Teams, Excel, and Microsoft 365 to improve documentation, tracking, reporting, and collaboration.
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on enterprise or colocation data center experience.
- Experience with rack and stack, server deployment, hardware installation/decommissioning, and structured cabling.
- Knowledge of server hardware, rack systems, power distribution, and data center standards.
- Experience with inventory/asset tracking and technical documentation.
- Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to lift and move equipment and work in a physically demanding data center environment.
