Job description

The Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for the design, documentation, instantiation and maintenance of both development and production networks. These networks will utilize the latest in hardware and software from both Cisco and Juniper., * Perform network system design with the support of network engineers

  • Identify BOMs and support procurement of all necessary components
  • Support physical installation where needed with the support of technicians
  • Generate transparent network documentation and continuously maintain revisions
  • Maintain meticulous and logical storage of network device configurations
  • Competency in configuration of both physical and virtual hardware
  • Monitor network performance across all networks and provide weekly status
  • Perform troubleshooting techniques across all layers of the TCP/IP stack to quickly resolve network outages and deficiencies
  • Analyze user requirements to determine best network topologies and configurations
  • Support networks spread across multiple LANs and WANs interfacing with commercial ISPs
  • Maintain the latest security best practices across all vendor equipment
  • Perform periodic OS patch management
  • Respond quickly to any vendor security notifications
  • Analyze network operation with constant goal of optimizing traffic flow and application consumption
  • Proactive assessment and forecasting of EoL and EoS equipment
  • Afterhours response may be necessary depending on specific network failures

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • This job will be performed primarily in an office, IT, or datacenter environment.
  • The position will require that the employee physical move, place, and install network equipment into a racked environment

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Information Technology with 4 years of experience
  • 7 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum Cisco CCNA active certification
  • Experience operating in virtual hosting environments such as VMWare ESXI
  • Strong ability to prioritize requirements and actions based on project needs
  • Ability to work effectively across multiple project teams
  • Working knowledge of Enterprise distribution of both Window and Linux OS systems
  • Hands on experience installing and maintaining commercial networks
