Job description

We’re working with a growing home furnishings retailer that’s modernizing its data infrastructure, think legacy SQL Server systems evolving into a modern Microsoft Fabric environment feeding BI and emerging AI initiatives. Looking for someone who has spent their career as a database administrator and has since built real depth in Microsoft Fabric, OneLake, and the broader Azure data platform. You’ll own both the keep it running side and the build what’s next side, working closely with a small, high visibility AI/ML function. Responsibilities:

  • Administer and support SQL Server environments, covering performance tuning, indexing, backups, and security
  • Lead migration of legacy database workloads into Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouse and Warehouse architectures
  • Design and manage data pipelines within Fabric (Data Factory, Dataflows) alongside legacy ETL tools such as SSIS
  • Administer OneLake capacity, workspaces, and governance settings to support enterprise reporting and analytics
  • Partner with the AI/ML team to ensure underlying data platforms are structured to support model development and deployment
  • Balance day to day operational database work with longer term platform build projects
  • Support BI reporting through Power BI, including semantic models connected to Fabric

Requirements

  • Solid foundation as a SQL Server database administrator, including performance tuning, indexing, backups, and security
  • Hands on experience with Microsoft Fabric, including OneLake, Lakehouse, and Warehouse concepts Familiarity with Azure data services such as Data Factory, Synapse, or Azure SQL Database

  • Experience building or maintaining ETL pipelines, ideally with SSIS
  • Comfort operating in a hybrid environment where legacy systems and modern cloud pipelines run side by side
  • Proficiency in Power BI or similar BI tooling
  • Collaborative mindset for working closely with a small, high visibility AI and ML team Nice to have:

  • Experience with Fabric governance, capacity planning, or cost management
  • Understanding of data modeling and warehouse design
  • Exposure to C# for custom data tooling or automation
