Job description
Join our team as a Cloud Engineer and play a key role in building secure, scalable, mission-critical solutions for DoD and Air Force Special Operations. Work with cross-functional teams to build scalable, resilient, and secure solutions-primarily in AWS-while modernizing legacy systems and improving enterprise operations.
In this role, you will:
- Design, develop, and maintain cloud-hosted applications and services
- Architect elastic, highly available, and fault-tolerant cloud solutions
- Automate deployments and infrastructure using CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code
- Migrate on-premises systems to cloud environments using established patterns and tools
- Integrate identity, authentication, authorization, and directory services
- Apply and enforce cybersecurity best practices (zero trust, RBAC, RMF, STIGs, DevSecOps)
- Support day-to-day cloud operations, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement
- Develop and maintain documentation and training materials, brief leadership on risks, status, and enhancements
- Lead cloud development efforts, including hands-on coding, testing, and deployment
- This role requires strong AWS/cloud expertise (Lambda, EC2, S3, RDS, Docker, CloudFormation, Ansible), CI/CD experience (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions), Linux/Windows proficiency, scripting skills (e.g., Bash, Python), and a solid background in identity and directory services (AD, IAM, Keycloak, PKI).
Requirements
- Experience supporting DoD and Air Force Special Operations missions; familiarity with DoDAF viewpoints
- Proven experience developing, integrating, and sustaining applications in cloud environments (AWS preferred; Azure or GCP acceptable)
- Proficiency with core cloud services and tools (Lambda, EC2, S3, RDS, Docker, AWS CLI, CloudFormation, Ansible)
- Hands-on experience implementing CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions)
- Expertise in identity and access management and federation (Active Directory, IAM, Keycloak, Red Hat SSO, PKI/certificates)
- Strong knowledge of Linux (RHEL) and Windows operating systems and scripting/programming (e.g., Bash, Python)
- Ability to troubleshoot cloud applications across development, test, and production environments
- Experience with configuration management, version control, and code repositories (GitLab, GitHub)
- Demonstrated ability to implement secure cloud configurations aligned with RMF, STIGs, SCAP, and DevSecOps principles
- Strong documentation skills, including system diagrams, baseline configurations, deployment artifacts, and user guides.
Education, Certification and Experience Requirements
- BS in a related technical field or equivalent experience plus required years of experience
- 5+ years of combined DoW and/or Commercial industry IT experience
- Two (2) of the five (5) years’ experience must be implementing/sustaining enterprise-level solutions in a production cloud environment
- Current DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II certification (Sec+ CE or equivalent) Required
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate Required
- Linux+ Desired
