Job description

The Software Engineer E2 designs, develops, tests, and supports software solutions within a semiconductor environment. This role contributes to the implementation of software features, tools, platforms, or embedded applications that support semiconductor products and development initiatives. The Software Engineer works closely with senior engineers, technical leads, product management, quality, and cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, maintainable, and high-quality software aligned with technical and business objectives. Proficiency with modern software development practices and Agile methodologies is required.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, debug, test, and maintain software components in support of semiconductor products, platforms, tools, or embedded systems. Contribute to implementation plans, estimate work, and deliver assigned features and enhancements according to project priorities and development schedules.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across software engineering, hardware engineering, validation, quality, product management, and operations to support successful product and software delivery. Participate in technical discussions to clarify requirements, define interfaces, and ensure alignment across development activities.
  • Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code following established coding standards, architectural guidelines, and development processes. Support code reviews, unit testing, integration testing, defect resolution, and root cause analysis to help ensure product quality and reliability.
  • Participate in Agile development activities including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily standups, retrospectives, and release planning. Track assigned work, communicate progress and technical issues, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts within the team.
  • Partner with technical teams to understand system architecture, integration points, hardware-software interactions, development constraints, and release requirements. Support software development lifecycle activities including requirements analysis, design, implementation, validation, documentation, and release readiness.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams and external partners where applicable. Promote engineering discipline, quality, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the development lifecycle while ensuring work aligns with organizational standards and customer expectations.

Functional Knowledge

Demonstrates working knowledge of software engineering principles, coding practices, debugging techniques, and software development methodologies. Understands development, testing, integration, and maintenance activities in semiconductor, embedded systems, firmware, platform software, or related technical environments.

Business Expertise

Understands how software supports semiconductor product development, operational goals, and customer commitments. Applies business and technical context to deliver quality software that supports schedule, performance, and product objectives.

Leadership

Works effectively as a contributing team member within cross-functional development efforts. Takes ownership of assigned tasks, communicates clearly, and collaborates with peers and technical leads to support team delivery goals.

Problem Solving

Solves routine to moderately complex technical problems by analyzing requirements, troubleshooting issues, identifying root causes, and implementing practical solutions. Escalates more complex architectural or cross-functional issues appropriately.

Impact

Impacts product and project outcomes through timely delivery of assigned software components, support for product quality, and effective collaboration with cross-functional teams. Contributes to release readiness, maintainability, and engineering execution within defined scope.

Interpersonal Skills

Communicates clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders, including engineers, managers, and cross-functional partners. Builds productive working relationships, supports collaboration, and responds effectively to feedback.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in software development in a semiconductor, embedded software, firmware, platform software, or related engineering environment.
  • Working knowledge of programming fundamentals, software design, debugging, and testing practices.
  • Familiarity with software development lifecycle processes and Agile development methodologies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with engineering and business stakeholders and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with semiconductor product development, embedded systems, firmware, platform software, or software tools used in engineering environments. Familiarity with version control, build systems, defect tracking, CI/CD workflows, and software development tools.
  • Experience with validation support, integration activities, or hardware-software interaction.

Benefits & conditions

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.

For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
