Job description

Our consultants on the Defense & Security AI & Data team help clients maximize the value of their data and automate business processes. This high performing team works with clients to implement the full spectrum of data analytics and data science, from data querying and wrangling to data engineering, to data visualization, dashboarding, and business intelligence (BI), to predictive analytics, machine learning (ML), and artificial intelligence (AI). Our services enable our clients to define their information strategy, enable mission critical insights and data-driven decision making, reduce cost and complexity, increase trust, and improve operational effectiveness.

  • Conduct ETL and data quality analysis using various technologies (i.e., Python, Databricks) in cloud-based databases and ETL architecture.
  • Develop intuitive, attractive, and interactive data visualizations using large data sets to create dashboards, using tools such as Tableau and Power BI, for a diverse set of users with varying technical capabilities.

  • Partner with ISSOs, system owners, and Agile delivery teams to define data requirements, curate datasets, and operationalize dashboards for mission decision-making.

  • Operate within CI/CD and DevSecOps practices to version experiments, automate data/feature pipelines, and validate models in controlled environments.

  • Communicate findings in plain language and produce clear visualizations and documentation that align to stakeholder needs.

Requirements

  • Must be able to OBTAIN and MAINTAIN a Federal or DHS “PUBLIC TRUST”; candidates must obtain approved adjudication of their PUBLIC TRUST prior to onboarding with Guidehouse. Candidates with an ACTIVE PUBLIC TRUST or SUITABILITY are preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • THREE (3) or more years’ experience as a Data Security Analyst or equivalent knowledge.
  • FOUR (4) or more years’ experience in data analytics with large data sets.
  • Experiencedesigning and developing databases with Structured Query Language (SQL) and performing complex queries.
  • Experience developing complex data pipelines and extract - transform - load (ETL) processes.
  • Expeirence moving and manipulating data of different types and file types using Python.
  • Experience working in cloud-based databases and architecture.
  • Experience performing data quality management and integration to ensure accurate and usable datasets using querying or data engineering software tools, such as SQL, Python, R, etc.
  • Experience using business intelligence tools Tableau and/or Power BI to visualize large data sets.
  • Ability to support on-site and hybrid projects in the DC metro area

What Would Be Nice to Have:

  • Active DOJ Suitability or Active Secret Clearance
  • Strong understanding of different types of data storage.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure and/or GCP.
  • Ability to think strategically and drive innovation.
  • Ability to transform cybersecurity/GRC datasets (e.g., vulnerability and asset posture, compliance/scoring data) into reliable features and decision-ready insights.
  • Familiarity with Federal cybersecurity and compliance frameworks: NIST SP 800-53, NIST RMF, OSCAL, FedRAMP.
  • Experience ingesting and analyzing signals from Tenable, Qualys, CrowdStrike, BigFix; CDM/SIEM integrations.
  • Experience with large-scale ETL/ELT pipelines and API-first integrations; experience with micro-ETL/event-driven patterns.
  • Hands-on analytics in SQL-based environments (Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and search/feature retrieval using ElasticSearch.
  • Experience with approved enterprise AI tools (e.g., Amazon Q, Azure OpenAI, Microsoft Copilot, Google Gemini) within responsible AI governance. Experience developing and implementing a resiliency strategy, including data visualization tailored for law enforcement and/or cybersecurity.
  • Experience working with system and application logs.
  • Proficiency in querying and joining acquisition, programming and transactional datasets.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python.
  • Proficiency developing dashboards using Tableau or Power BI.
  • Experience with design and build of ETL programs, interfaces, and data reconciliation processes, preferably in Databricks.
  • Familiarity with DevOps and container technologies (Docker/Kubernetes).
  • Ability to implement basic automation and CI/CD.
  • Experience with micro services architecture and API gateways.
  • Technical expertise with data models, data mining, data cleansing, and segmentation techniques.
  • Experience with source code version control technologies such as Git.

Benefits & conditions

The annual salary range for this position is $85,000.00-$141,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
