Job description
The Position: The Team Lead - Data Warehouse & Decision Support is responsible for guiding technical direction and overseeing the day-to-day operation, reliability, and continuous improvement of ISN’s data warehousing, ETL environment, and overall data estate. The position requires technical, analytical, and leadership skills with a strong background in data engineering, data modeling, and modern cloud and AI data platforms including Microsoft Fabric and SQL Server. This position is approximately 25% people leadership and 75% hands-on technical work., * Lead the day-to-day operation of the data warehouse, ETL environment, and semantic/reporting layers, ensuring pipelines run reliably, resilience, data is available on schedule, and incidents are resolved quickly
- Design and lead the team’s adoption and operational deployment of Microsoft Fabric, Databricks and SQL Server for data engineering, data pipeline modernization, and lakehouse/warehouse workloads
- Partner with data architecture, Technical Operations, data governance, security, and platform teams to ensure compliance, access controls, and cost management across cloud data environments.
- Write and review complex SQL and pipeline code; act as the final technical reviewer for major data model or pipeline changes
- Evaluate opportunities to apply AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) to data engineering workflows, such as pipeline development, code assistance, testing, and documentation, and guide the team through practical adoption
Requirements
- 8+ years of data engineering/data warehousing experience in a dynamic, data-rich, and fast-paced environment
- Strong hands-on experience with day-to-day data warehousing and ETL/ELT operations, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance tuning of production pipelines
- 3+ years of leadership/project leadership experience
- Strong hands-on expertise with: Microsoft Fabric, SQL, ETL and Python
- Hands-on experience with Databricks & Microsoft Fabric including Lakehouse architecture (Delta tables, OneLake, Apache Spark), Fabric Data Warehouse, and Fabric semantic models for downstream reporting
- Proficiency using Python (including PySpark and notebooks) for data engineering, transformation logic, and automation within Fabric and/or SQL Server
Benefits & conditions
- Employees must be within a commutable distance to the Dallas, TX office. Relocation is required for candidates not already local to the DFW area.
- In-person attendance is required at minimum 2 days per week during the first 90 days of employment.
- After 90-day review, in-person attendance is required at minimum 1 day per month and required for certain meetings and tasks (collaboration with stakeholders and customers, team collaboration day, ISN events, team events, performance reviews, etc.).
