Job description

As a Senior Software Engineer at SailPoint, you will be at the forefront of powering intelligent identity decisions across modern enterprise environments. In your day-to-day work, you will design, build, and deploy robust full-stack microservices for the Policy Engine-a mission-critical system delivering real-time and batch decision evaluations for cutting-edge initiatives like the SailPoint Agentic Fabric. You will rapidly prototype solutions, hone product requirements with cross-functional partners, and build performant, maintainable software using modern technologies including Golang and Angular. Embracing modern AI-assisted and agentic development workflows, you will actively apply the latest engineering techniques to deliver high-impact security capabilities at global scale.

About the team

You will join the UK Platform Engineering team, a highly collaborative group responsible for architecting, building, and running core platform services. The team consists of talented engineers passionate about crafting resilient distributed systems and end-to-end features. While we enjoy the flexibility of remote work, we stay closely connected through regular collaboration and gather in person once per quarter for an energizing one- to two-day team offsite.

Roadmap for success

30 days:

  • Complete onboarding and environment configuration across all relevant SailPoint engineering platforms.
  • Shadow team peers to understand the Policy Engine architecture, service dependencies, and deployment pipelines.
  • Complete first bug fix or minor feature contribution and successfully submit a pull request following team standards.
  • Actively participate in daily standups, sprint planning, and code review workflows.

60 days:

  • Design and implement first end-to-end microservice feature in collaboration with the tech lead and product partners.
  • Develop unit and integration test suites validating service resilience and external integration points.
  • Shadow the engineering support rotation to learn on-call troubleshooting procedures and operational tooling.

6 months:

  • Autonomously architect, build, and deliver complex, high-throughput Policy Engine features from concept through to production rollout.
  • Participate actively in the 24x7 engineering on-call support rotation (approximately 1 week in 20).
  • Lead design reviews, mentor team members on best practices, and introduce agentic coding workflows to accelerate team delivery.

1 year:

  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on the Policy Engine and Agentic Fabric decision systems.
  • Drive technical roadmaps and architectural evolution for key microservices across the UK Platform team.
  • Partner with global architecture and engineering leadership to set coding standards and lead major technical initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • 5+ years of professional software development experience building production-grade distributed systems
  • Strong proficiency in backend microservices development, preferably with Golang
  • Proven experience in modern frontend development, preferably with Angular
  • Practical experience or strong familiarity with AI-assisted/agentic software development tools and workflows
  • Solid background in testing and debugging complex systems, including unit, integration, and performance profiling
  • Experience designing and operating microservices in SaaS/cloud environments
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills with an articulate, approachable approach to teamwork

The Tech Stack

  • Languages: Golang, TypeScript, JavaScript
  • Frontend: Angular
  • Cloud & Infrastructure: AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform
  • CI/CD & Tooling: Jenkins / CloudBees, Git
