Job description

Leidos is seeking highly qualified professionals to support the TSA TOMCAT Program. We are especially interested in connecting with current incumbent personnel supporting this mission who are interested in continuing their work and bringing their valuable mission knowledge and experience to Leidos., The Tier II and Tier III Enterprise Systems Engineer provides advanced operational and engineering support for TOMCAT enterprise infrastructure and core services. Tier II serves as an escalation point for issues that cannot be resolved by Tier I or standard operational support personnel and performs structured troubleshooting, system administration, configuration, patching, monitoring, performance analysis, and service restoration. Additionally, Tier II works across enterprise systems and infrastructure, coordinating with network, cloud, cybersecurity, database, application, ServiceNow, and other technical teams to resolve incidents and maintain reliable service operations. The Tier III Enterprise Systems Engineer provides senior-level engineering, advanced troubleshooting, technical problem resolution, and operational stabilization for complex TOMCAT enterprise infrastructure. The position serves as the highest technical escalation point within the enterprise systems support structure and is responsible for resolving complex or systemic issues that exceed Tier II capabilities., Duties will vary depending on the specific position and level. Duties may include:

  • Provide engineering and operational support for enterprise infrastructure and core services.
  • Troubleshoot escalated incidents involving Windows/Linux systems, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, virtualization, storage, monitoring, and related enterprise platforms.
  • Perform system configuration, administration, patching, upgrades, and routine maintenance.
  • Analyze system performance, capacity, availability, and operational health.
  • Respond to escalated incidents and support timely restoration of affected services.
  • Review monitoring alerts and operational events and perform structured technical troubleshooting.
  • Coordinate with network, cloud, cybersecurity, database, application, and ServiceNow teams to resolve cross-domain issues.
  • Execute approved changes and maintenance activities in accordance with ITIL change and release processes.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation, runbooks, knowledge articles, and service records.
  • Identify recurring incidents and technical problems and provide inputs to Problem Management.
  • Support operational readiness and transition of new systems into steady-state O&M.
  • Escalate highly complex, architectural, or systemic problems to engineering resources.
  • Provide engineering support for complex enterprise infrastructure and core services.
  • Serve as the senior technical escalation point for unresolved or systemic infrastructure incidents.
  • Analyze complex performance, availability, capacity, and reliability issues.
  • Engineer and implement approved technical solutions to restore or improve service performance.
  • Support major and critical incident response by providing technical leadership and engineering expertise.
  • Develop and execute complex remediation, upgrade, patching, configuration, and modernization activities.
  • Evaluate technical dependencies and identify infrastructure risks and supportability gaps.
  • Develop automation, scripts, monitoring enhancements, SOPs, and technical runbooks to improve operational efficiency.
  • Conduct technical reviews of proposed changes and identify potential operational impacts.
  • Provide technical recommendations to engineering leadership and program management.
  • Mentor engineers and promote knowledge transfer and technical redundancy.

Requirements

  • Requires BS degree and 8+ years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6+ ears of prior relevant experience. In lieu of degree, additional experience may be required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain TSA Suitability
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust security clearance
  • Enterprise systems administration or engineering experience.
  • Experience supporting Windows and/or Linux enterprise environments.
  • Knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, virtualization, monitoring, storage, and enterprise infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-resolution skills.
  • Experience with ITIL incident, change, and problem-management processes.
  • Experience with incident, problem, change, and release management.
  • Demonstrated root-cause analysis and service-restoration experience.
  • Scripting experience with PowerShell, Bash, Python, or comparable technologies.
  • Strong technical documentation, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively during high-impact outages and competing operational priorities
  • Security+.
  • Microsoft certification and/or VMware VCP preferred., * TSA, DHS, or other federal enterprise IT experience.
  • Experience with ServiceNow, SolarWinds, SCOM, VMware, Microsoft, or comparable enterprise technologies.
  • Experience supporting geographically distributed enterprise environments.
  • Experience in 24x7 operational support.
  • Federal enterprise O&M experience.
  • Experience providing technical leadership during major incidents.
  • Architecture or engineering certification.
