Job description

The Business Intelligence Analyst II serves as an experienced reporting and analytics resource for enterprise applications. This position independently develops dashboards, reports, extracts, analytic products, and semantic models. The Business Intelligence Analyst II applies sound data modeling, visualization, data quality, and documentation practices and contributes to analytics standards and governance. This role may serve as a subject matter expert for specific applications, data domains, business processes, or reporting platforms., * Lead discovery sessions and requirements-gathering activities with clinical, operational, financial, administrative, and technical stakeholders.

  • Translate complex requirements into reporting specifications, technical designs, data models, semantic models, and analytics solutions.

  • Independently develop and support dashboards, reports, extracts, scorecards, and analytic applications.

  • Design, develop, and maintain Tableau or Power BI reports and semantic models, or Epic analytics reports; relationships, hierarchies, perspectives, and display folders; reusable DAX measures; Helps with administration of workspace permissions; performance optimization; and deployment procedures.

  • Use and contribute to governed enterprise semantic models, certified datasets, shared metrics, and standardized business definitions.

  • Develop intermediate to advanced SQL queries and perform data profiling, reconciliation, and root-cause analysis.

  • Collaborate with data engineering, analytics engineering, application support, and enterprise architecture teams to identify source systems, data elements, integration requirements, and data quality issues.

  • Assess the quality, completeness, timeliness, and usability of data used in reporting and analytics products.

  • Create and maintain definitions for metrics, KPIs, dimensions, filters, business rules, and calculated measures.

  • Develop and support conversational analytics experiences using approved tools such as Power BI Q&A, Microsoft Copilot, natural-language interfaces, or other internal comparable capabilities.

  • Validate AI-generated or natural-language responses for accuracy, context, security, and appropriate interpretation.

  • Recommend appropriate reporting and analytics tools based on user needs, data characteristics, performance, security, usability, and maintainability.

  • Create technical documentation, report specifications, data dictionaries, lineage documentation, support procedures, and end-user materials.

  • Participate in analytics governance, data stewardship, standards, and community-of-practice activities.

  • Provide peer review, coaching, and technical guidance to Business Intelligence Analyst I staff.

  • Lead testing, implementation, release, and post-production support for assigned analytics products.

  • Troubleshoot complex reporting, data, access, performance, and application-related issues.

  • Follow organizational policies related to privacy, security, HIPAA, data governance, accessibility, and responsible use of artificial intelligence.

Requirements

  • Experience with Power BI semantic models, DAX, Power Query, deployment pipelines, workspaces, gateways, row-level security, and performance tuning.
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Analysis Services, Power BI Premium, or related analytics platforms.
  • Experience with Epic Clarity, Caboodle, Cogito Suite, Reporting Workbench, Radar Dashboards, Registries, Healthy Planet, or Slicer/Dicer.
  • Experience developing or managing enterprise metric definitions, data dictionaries, business glossaries, or data lineage.
  • Experience implementing conversational analytics or natural-language query capabilities.
  • Experience with data quality frameworks, automated testing, metadata management, or analytics engineering practices.
  • Experience with version control, Agile delivery, continuous improvement, or release management.
  • Healthcare analytics experience in clinical, operational, financial, quality, population health, or revenue cycle domains.
  • Epic reporting or analytics certification.
  • Experience mentoring or providing technical leadership to other analysts.
  • Demonstrated experience developing reports, dashboards, extracts, or analytics products using one or more enterprise business intelligence platforms.
  • Proficiency with SQL and relational data concepts.
  • Demonstrated experience with semantic models, or governed reporting datasets.
  • Experience with Tableau, Power BI or a comparable enterprise analytics platform.
  • Experience creating calculations, measures, filters, dashboards, and visualizations.
  • Experience translating stakeholder requirements into technical designs and production-ready analytics solutions.
  • Experience with data validation, troubleshooting, performance analysis, and root-cause investigation.
  • Strong written, verbal, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across technical, clinical, operational, and administrative teams.
  • Working knowledge of data privacy, security, HIPAA, analytics governance, and responsible use of AI-enabled analytics., 5 years experience in data development, data analysis, report programming, Cogito Suite. Includes a foundational understanding of relational data models or application toolset foundations.

Prior experience with business intelligence tools. Examples include, but are not limited to: Epic Cogito Suite, Reporting Workbench, Radar Dashboards, Registries, Healthy Planet, Slicer/Dicer, Clarity/Caboodle Data Model, Crystal Reports, WEBi, SQL, Tableau, Qlik, Python, R or other analytic toolsets.

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, or technology/healthcare related field.
