Job description

As a Lead Engineer - Testing, you will support the development, validation, and troubleshooting of Wabtec products and systems through hands-on engineering testing, instrumentation, data acquisition, and technical analysis. You will prepare and execute test activities, install and troubleshoot instrumentation and test setups, collect and process engineering data, and communicate technical findings to engineering teams. This role requires an engineer who is comfortable working independently in laboratory and field environments, managing multiple testing priorities, and collaborating across cross-functional teams., * Work on-site Monday through Friday to support testing and validation activities.

  • Partner with engineering teams to develop comprehensive validation test plans supporting business and product initiatives.
  • Conduct field testing at Wabtec and customer locations, including instrumentation installation, data acquisition, test execution, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Utilize calibrated sensors and data acquisition systems within the Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH) domain.
  • Troubleshoot instrumentation, test setups, equipment, and system-level issues using engineering fundamentals and hands-on system knowledge.
  • Support time-sensitive testing related to engineering investigations, product validation, manufacturing concerns, quality issues, and production needs.
  • Analyze engineering test data to validate components, assemblies, and systems against business and product requirements.
  • Prepare, document, and communicate technical results and test findings to engineering teams and internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identify and support improvements in test methods, instrumentation, fixtures, equipment, and data acquisition processes.
  • Prepare invention disclosures to help protect technologies that provide a competitive advantage to the business., You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in an engineering position.
  • Experience supporting engineering testing, instrumentation, data acquisition, and technical analysis in laboratory and field environments.
  • Working knowledge of locomotive operations and Siemens Simcenter, Test Lab data acquisition software, with experience configuring and operating engineering test and data acquisition systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose instrumentation, test setup, equipment, and system-level issues using sound engineering principles.
  • Experience developing validation test plans, conducting field testing, analyzing test data, and communicating technical results to engineering and cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage multiple concurrent engineering test projects and collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, skilled trades, vendors, customers, and external service providers.
  • Experience with laboratory calibration programs, validation processes, sensor installation and troubleshooting, quality management systems, and Wabtec engineering practices is preferred., This position requires hands-on work in laboratory, field, and customer environments. Essential physical capabilities include:
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at elevated locations.
  • Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25%.

The salary rate for this role is currently $62100-85300 The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location.
