Software Engineer III, Mobile, iOS, XR

As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. The XR Team’s mission is to empower people with superhuman abilities by making information instantly and intuitively accessible. Within the XR iOS group, we bring Google’s unique XR capabilities to the iPhone ecosystem, bridging the gap between mobile devices and next-generation wearables.

The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google’s various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user’s interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $147000 - $211000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

• Write product or system development code.
• Review code developed by other engineers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
• Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
• Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
• Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience programming in Objective-C or Swift.
• 2 years of experience programming in C++.
• 2 years of experience with iOS application development., * Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
• 2 years of experience with performance, large-scale systems data analysis, visualization tools, or debugging.
• 2 years of experience with data structures and algorithms in either an academic or industry setting.
• Experience with video streaming.
• Experience with remote rendering.
