About the role Supporting but not limited to Johnston Land Fill Gas to Electric Plant (Smithfield, NC), Millersville Land Fill Gas to Electric Plant (Severn, MD), and Zimmerman Energy Land Fill Gas to Electric Plant (Argus, Indiana), The Field Maintenance Technician - CAT is responsible for performing and supporting major maintenance activities, engine overhauls, troubleshooting, repairs, and reliability initiatives across a fleet of approximately 15 power generation facilities. This position works closely with plant personnel and regional leadership to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality maintenance execution. This role requires frequent travel to company facilities and may support emergency callouts or scheduled outages as needed. When not traveling, the technician will report to a designated local facility to assist with daily maintenance and operational needs., Perform and support scheduled major maintenance activities at multiple power generation facilities. * Execute engine overhauls, rebuilds, inspections, and repairs in accordance with company procedures and OEM standards.

  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and operational issues related to power generation equipment and plant systems.
  • Assist site personnel with corrective maintenance, preventive maintenance, and equipment reliability improvements.
  • Complete post-maintenance inspections, testing, oil sampling, and required follow-up tasks.
  • Ensure all maintenance work orders, service records, and documentation are completed accurately in CMMS systems such as EMaint.
  • Coordinate with plant personnel to minimize downtime and safely complete maintenance activities.
  • Assist with parts ordering, inventory readiness, and material planning for maintenance events.
  • Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment drawings.
  • Maintain compliance with all company safety policies, environmental standards, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Support training efforts by sharing technical knowledge and maintenance best practices with site teams.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and organized condition.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance needs and outage support as assigned.
  • Serve as the Delegate of Authority for Regional Managers as assigned.
  • On-call support for assigned facilities as-needed.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED required. 3-5 years of industrial maintenance, power generation, engine, or related mechanical/electrical experience. Experience working on CAT G3500 and/or CAT G3600 engines preferred. Strong troubleshooting skills involving mechanical, electrical, and rotating equipment systems. Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and technical documentation. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and maintenance management software. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record. Ability to pass required background screening, physical, hearing, and drug testing. Ability to travel up to 80%. Preferred Qualifications Technical certification, trade school, or associate degree in industrial maintenance, diesel technology, electrical technology, or related field. Previous experience in landfill gas, renewable natural gas, or power generation operations. Experience leading maintenance crews or coordinating outage activities. Familiarity with CMMS platforms such as EMaint. OEM training or overhaul certification.

This position offers paid vacation depending on your years of relevant industry experience and will range from 120
