Job description
The Sr. Hardware Engineer Lead provides technical leadership in the design, development, and support of embedded electronic products across the full product lifecycle. This role leads hardware development, product improvements, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure products are reliable, manufacturable, compliant, and well supported through production., * Lead embedded hardware design from concept through production, including circuit design, component selection, prototyping, validation, documentation, and product release.
- Design and review analog, digital, mixed-signal, power, sensor, wireless, and microcontroller-based hardware, including schematics and PCB layouts.
- Oversee prototype bring-up, testing, debugging, root cause analysis, and design validation.
- Support production and existing products through troubleshooting, engineering changes, yield improvement, and defect reduction.
- Partner with Supply Chain and Procurement on component availability, alternate sourcing, obsolescence, and cost reduction.
- Act as a senior technical escalation point for complex product, manufacturing, and field issues.
- Work with Quality on design controls, documentation, CAPA, configuration management, ISO requirements, and product certifications.
- Mentor engineering team members through technical guidance, design reviews, best practices, and cross-training.
- Collaborate with Firmware, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Technical Support, and Operations to drive successful product development and support.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering required; Master’s preferred.
- 3-7 years of experience in embedded hardware design and development.
- Experience taking products from concept through production and supporting sustaining engineering.
- Background in manufacturing support, supply chain collaboration, and field technical support.
- Experience working in cross-functional product development teams.
Technical Skills
- Strong analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuit design experience.
- Knowledge of microcontroller-based embedded systems and interfaces such as SPI, I²C, UART, CAN, USB, and Ethernet.
- Experience with power supplies, sensor interfaces, and battery-powered products.
- Proficiency with schematic capture and PCB design tools such as PADS, Altium Designer, or OrCAD.
- Familiarity with signal integrity, EMC/EMI mitigation, DFM, and DFT.
- Skilled in using lab equipment and troubleshooting complex hardware issues.
- Experience with validation, environmental testing, and regulatory compliance standards including FCC, CE, UL, EMC, and HazLoc.
- Working knowledge of ECN processes, configuration management, and engineering documentation.
- Familiarity with embedded firmware debugging and software tools including Python, C, C++, and Linux.
