Job description

RCIS (a division of Zurich North America) is currently hiring a Sr Data Scientist Analyst, and this person will report to the Head of Underwriting, Crop Analytics. This role will work in a hybrid schedule from Schaumburg, IL or Anoka, MN OR remote for the right person.

Some of the key accountabilities of this role include

  • Building and/or enhancing models for crop insurance business
  • Identify and integrate external data sources needed for predictive analytics
  • Analyzing and reporting on crop products requiring modeling with respect to RMA pricing, yield, and performance expectations
  • Refreshing profitability models at the county and crop level to determine our strategic appetite
  • Monitor and streamline premium estimation models
  • Leading the maintenance and enhancements of fund designation models
  • Scenario modeling on various RMA products to determine impact on profitability
  • Manage Review Project - looking at historical data and state mix, county plan level, and industry data
  • Participation in NCIS organization committees and new RMA product development and reviews

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or Engineering or Mathematics/Statistics or Technology and 8 or more years of experience in the Predictive Analytics area AND
  • Experience applying data transformation techniques such as exact and probabilistic matching methods; fuzzy matching, text mining, and data reduction
  • Experience with programming and database mining tools such as Hadoop, Hive, Pig, Java, SQL, and Python, * Possesses strong crop insurance knowledge and technical expertise
  • Understanding how MPCI (multi-peril crop insurance) products work and how they are priced
  • Experience with extracting data from relational databases
  • Advanced knowledge of statistical techniques and their application to business decisions
  • Ability to develop actionable solutions to business challenges
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal and communication skills

Benefits & conditions

The pay range shown is a national average and may vary by location. The proposed salary range for this position is $132,500 - $217,000, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 20%.
