Job description

Division / Department: Lumber & Building Materials / LBM Operations Reports to: Director of LBM Operations Travel: As needed (to support member implementation, evaluate technology solutions, and participate in industry events)

About the Role: The LBM Member Technology Specialist will lead the adoption and advancement of technology solutions that improve operational performance for the Do it Best Group LBM division and the dealers it serves. This role is responsible for evolving the LBM analytics platform (both internal and member-facing) by leveraging data to drive insights and creating dealer-focused data solutions that increase long-term engagement.

The Member Technology Specialist will build and manage relationships with third-party technology providers to evaluate, implement, and scale solutions that strengthen member capabilities. The role combines strong analytical skills with a practical understanding of LBM industry needs, acting as a bridge between data, technology and real-world operations.

Intellectual curiosity, a continuous learning mindset, and the ability to simplify technical concepts into clear actionable insights are essential. Additionally, strong people skills and a genuine desire to help others succeed are critical to success.

This role will initially focus heavily on project management-driving implementation, coordination, and execution-but is expected to evolve into a product ownership role. Over time, the Specialist will help define the long-term vision, roadmap and continuous improvement of key analytics and technology solutions while actively promoting their value to dealers.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead the development and continuous improvement of the LBM analytics platform by identifying key performance metrics, enhancing data visualization, and ensuring the platform delivers actionable insights for both internal teams and members.
  • Partner cross-functionally to define data requirements, improve data integrity, and expand reporting capabilities to support operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Evaluate, implement and scale third-party technology solutions that address critical needs within both the LBM division and member businesses.
  • Research emerging technologies, conduct vendor assessments, and lead pilot programs to validate solution effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with members and internal stakeholders to ensure successful deployment, adoption, and ongoing optimization of technology solutions.
  • Work closely with LBM Operations, IT and LBM Sales teams to align technology initiatives with divisional and organizational priorities.
  • Engage directly with members and dealers to understand operational challenges and educate them on available technology and analytics solutions.
  • Ensure platforms and tools are scalable, user-friendly, and aligned with evolving member needs.
  • Contribute to member education by developing and delivering training on analytics and technology solutions, including workshops, webinars, roundtables and industry events, positioning Do it Best as a leader in technology-enabled operational excellence.
