Lead Software Engineer (Fully Remote)

The role is hybrid, with 1 to 2 days on-site for a 6 months+ contract where English and Spanish are both mandatory. The ideal candidate is likely a hands-on Generative AI Engineer, Backend Engineer, or Cloud Solution Architect with a Software development background who has progressed into technical leadership. Key responsibilities Lead a cross-functional AI squad of up to 6 engineers, ensuring alignment on technical direction, priorities, and delivery timelines. Define and enforce technical standards, best practices, and architecture guidelines for AI solutions across the squad. Design and oversee scalable backend systems and APIs supporting AI solutions in Azure. Drive the integration of advanced AI capabilities, mainly RAG, plus LLMs, speech-to-text, computer vision, and IDP as a plus. Architect and validate cloud-based AI solutions leveraging Azure services such as Functions, App Services, Cosmos DB, Azure Key Vault, and Azure OpenAI. Conduct code reviews, provide technical mentoring, and support upskilling within the squad. Act as the technical interface between the squad and stakeholders including Product Owner, Data Scientists, frontend developers, and business teams. Monitor system performance, define reliability and observability standards, and ensure high availability of AI deployments. Stay current on Generative AI, LLMs, and prompt engineering trends and translate them into actionable squad initiatives.

Must have ~7+ years of relevant experience. ~ Proven experience leading AI engineering squads. ~ Strong background in designing and delivering end-to-end AI solutions in cloud environments. ~ Hands-on experience with RAG and Generative AI . ~ Strong backend systems and API development experience. ~ Strong Azure experience , including Functions, App Services, Cosmos DB, Azure Key Vault, and Azure OpenAI. ~ Solid knowledge of LLMs and prompt engineering.
