You will join the Laboratory Test Means Components (TMC) development team. We are responsible for the development, modification and maintenance of test means components. These a the building blocks of the test rigs that are subsequently used across our European sites to test our various Aircraft systems. Our skill sets include Software architecture, development and integration. System model integration and Hardware components selection and integration. We also ensure that all our TMC are themselves robustly tested and their performance validated before they are available to be deployed on test benches. Here in Filton we have the pleasure to see the TMC we develop being used routinely to test the Landing Gear (including full scale landing gear extension, retraction, braking and steering rigs for all our aircraft) and Fuel Systems.

Our role is to develop the TMC that can be used for Airbus to test new technologies and system evolutions for our current fleet of aircraft and prepare for future aircraft products. Our purpose at Airbus is to “pioneer sustainable aerospace for a safe and united world”; the ability to rigorously and exhaustively test aircraft systems is a direct enabler for that purpose.

What you will be doing:

  • End to end development of Test Means Components (TMC) from capture of requirements to specifying solutions, from software development to verification by testing, and finally integration on test rigs;
  • Troubleshooting test rig issues, identifying root causes and implementing fixes;
  • Working with highly experienced engineers to support your development and the chance to teach some “old dogs - new tricks” by bringing your skills to the team;
  • Building your network by positively interacting with people, from the testers who directly operate our components, to the architects that define entire benches, to the engineering teams that use the data we create.

Requirements

  • Currently studying towards a degree in Electrical, Electronics/Mechatronics Engineering, Software Engineering or IT;
  • Good attitude with others and a team player;
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable insights for transnational stakeholders;
  • Self-motivated.

SECURITY CLEARANCE: You will be subject to a BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) check. You may also need to gain UK SC-level Security Clearance or Export Control, depending on the role., This job requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as the foundation for the Company’s success, reputation and sustainable growth.
