Job description
The Database Administrator (Advanced) is responsible for supporting enterprise database migration and modernization initiatives. This role focuses on planning, coordinating, and executing database migrations from legacy systems to modern on-premises and cloud environments while ensuring data integrity, security, and compliance. The position also provides ongoing database administration and support for critical systems., Migration Planning & Execution
- Assess databases for migration readiness and compatibility
- Develop and implement migration strategies for on-premises and cloud platforms
- Coordinate with application and infrastructure teams to minimize downtime
- Monitor migration processes and troubleshoot issues in real-time
- Provide technical guidance, documentation, and training to stakeholders
Database Administration
- Configure, manage, and maintain SQL Server and related database platforms
- Perform schema conversions, data transformations, and integrity validation
- Optimize database performance during and after migration
- Support ongoing maintenance, backups, and recovery processes
Security & Compliance
- Implement database security measures including encryption and access controls
- Manage roles, permissions, and auditing processes
- Ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory data standards
Collaboration & Support
- Work closely with developers, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders
- Support system modernization efforts and continuous improvement initiatives
- Provide day-to-day support for database environments
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Senior SQL Server DBA
- At least 1 year of experience migrating databases across versions and platforms
- 5 years of experience in database backup and restore processes, * Strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server
- Proficiency in T-SQL
- Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
- Experience managing database roles, permissions, and security
- Hands-on experience with database migration and performance tuning
Preferred Skills
- Experience implementing Transparent Data Encryption (TDE)
- Knowledge of database design and normalization principles
- Experience with PowerShell scripting
