Douglas is a retail company for beauty, health and cosmetic products in 19 European countries. We are collaborating to improve their main product channel, their e-commerce. With the company headquarters in Düsseldorf (Germany), you will work in a distributed team from our office in Málaga (Spain).What you’ll be doingWe are looking for engineers who want more than just maintaining pipelines. Here, you will design systems that process data at scale, influence architectural direction, and help shape how modern event-driven platforms evolve. If you are passionate about Kafka, distributed systems, and continuous learning, we would love to build with you.Some of your responsabilities would be:Design and evolve scalable event-driven architecturesDefine Kafka topic strategies, partitioning models, schema governance, retention concepts, and operational best practicesBuild reliable real-time data pipelines using KafkaImprove data reliability, observability, performance, and cost efficiency across the platformDrive engineering standards around data modeling, CI/CD, testing, and infrastructure automationSupport the migration from legacy integrations toward modern event driven and cloud-native architecturesMentor on and contribute to architectural and technical decisionsContinuously evaluate and introduce technologies that improve scalability and developer productivityYou work in an agile, product driven team setupYou are in close contact with your IT colleagues and understand the needs and requirements of a high-performance, secure and stable platform operation.What you’ll bringMinimum 3 years of professional experience in architecture, ideally as a Solution Architect, Data Architect, or Senior Data Engineer, with hands-on experience in event-driven architecture.Deep practical knowledge of event-driven architecture, ideally with Kafka. Experience with similar technologies such as RabbitMQ, Azure Service Bus (ASB), or SAP Event Mesh is also welcome.Solid understanding of data modeling, data integration, and scalable processing conceptsFamiliarity with cloud platforms and infrastructure automation (AWS, Azure, or GCP)Beneficial: Experience with Enterprise Service Bus technologies such as Qlik Talend or SAP S4 / BTPA firm understanding and practical experience in tools and processes to ensure software quality, such as Unit Tests, TDD and Test AutomationStrong communication and collaboration skills in cross-functional teamsYou don’t have to know every technology. More important is a tech background, a growth mindset, strong self-motivation and being passionate about your job. You should have fun learning new stuff.Very good English language proficiency, Good German language skills are a plus.What we offer?
