Head of Information Technology

This is a key senior leadership role, responsible for ensuring our technology, infrastructure, and information and cyber security arrangements enable the Council to deliver high-quality, efficient services for our residents., Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), you will provide strategic leadership across IT services, with responsibility for:

• Developing and delivering a fit-for-purpose IT strategy and architecture
• Leading IT operations, security, infrastructure and programme delivery
• Managing major IT programmes and projects
• Ensuring robust cyber security, information governance and data protection
• Driving continuous improvement and innovation
• Managing commercial contracts and third-party suppliers

We are seeking a strong and credible leader with:

• Significant experience leading IT in a large, complex organisation
• A track record of delivering technology-enabled change and improvement
• Experience developing and delivering an IT strategy aligned to organisational goals
• Strong understanding of IT security, data protection and information governance
• Experience of programme and supplier management
• The ability to build strong partnerships and relationships
• Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and influence with the experience of managing a multi-disciplinary team
• Play a key role in shaping how digital services are delivered across the city
• Lead impactful programmes that make a real difference to residents
• Work as part of a supportive and collaborative senior leadership team
