IT Hardware Deployment Technician

Pimlico Banks are recruiting an IT Deployment Technician to support a major hardware replacement programme for an established organisation in Birmingham.

The project will involve the rollout and replacement of around 2000 devices including laptops, desktops, MacBooks and Chromebooks.

This is a hands-on, process-driven role and would be a great opportunity for someone looking to gain commercial IT experience. Previous commercial IT experience isn’t essential - what’s more important is a genuine interest in technology, good attention to detail and the ability to work accurately through a high volume of devices. The role will involve:

• Preparing and provisioning new laptops, desktops and other devices
• Supporting the replacement of end-of-life IT equipment
• Checking device and BIOS information against asset records
• Installing Windows and carrying out system updates
• Applying and checking asset labels
• Following defined build and deployment processes
• Maintaining accurate records and inventory information
• Identifying basic hardware or software issues and escalating where necessary
• Working through a high volume of equipment accurately and efficiently

• Has a genuine interest in computers and technology
• Has a good basic understanding of computer hardware
• Is comfortable using desktop operating systems such as Windows 10/11; familiarity with macOS would also be useful
• Has strong attention to detail and takes pride in getting things right
• Is reliable and comfortable following defined processes
• Has good communication and problem-solving skills
• Is happy carrying out repetitive, hands-on work as part of a large-scale IT project

You may already have some IT support or technician experience, but we’re equally interested in people who have developed their technical knowledge through college, university, personal projects or their own interest in technology.

This is an initial six-month contract and an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience working within a large, established IT environment.
