Senior Platform Engineer

The Airship team manages the infrastructure powering Uswitch, money.co.uk, and the RVU-wide AI initiative. We focus on enabling development teams to deliver services quickly, reliably and securely, running Kubernetes EKS and Fargate, and providing shared services such as Opensearch, Envoy, Vault and Prometheus., * Work alongside established engineering teams, supporting and growing the organisation’s understanding of modern technology.

• Collaborate with cross-functional groups to shape and deliver the technical vision.
• Own technical strategy, decisions and implementation approach.
• Use logs, metrics and data to monitor and improve system performance, cost, security and reliability.
• Participate in technical catch-ups, working groups and all-hands to enhance a diverse engineering culture.
• Share experience, knowledge and expertise in a continuous learning environment.
• Accountability for objective setting, feature ideation, architecture, process definition, the entire stack, CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Mentor and coach engineers, presenting knowledge back to the wider organisation.
• Proactively identify improvement opportunities and manage time between team and organisational contributions.
• Rotate around the business to build relationships and act as a multiplier., Short-lived database credentials - built Vault tooling to replace long-lived credentials for safe, short-lived access.

Yggdrasil - Envoy control plane for multi-cluster load balancing, enabling traffic routing across clusters.

• Experience running Kubernetes clusters in production.
• Knowledge of Golang, Helm, Terraform (Python a plus).
• Production experience with Cilium, eBPF or general networking.
• Extensive monitoring experience.
• Strong debugging skills for large systems.
• Understanding of image vulnerability scanning and patching strategies.
• Familiarity with AWS Multi-Account system designs, Crossplane, Control Tower.
• Knowledge of Argo Workflows or similar data-pipeline services.
• Experience with Cloud Native projects.
• Familiarity with GitHub Actions and OpenTelemetry.
