Job description

Location: This position is based in Madrid. Frequent travel to France will be required to support collaboration with local teams and stakeholders., We are looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join our Infrastructure & Platform team.

In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and operating highly available, scalable, and secure infrastructure solutions across AWS cloud environments and on-premise datacenters.

You will play a key role in driving the evolution of our hybrid cloud strategy, ensuring seamless integration between cloud and on-premise systems while supporting business-critical services at scale. This position combines deep expertise in cloud infrastructure, networking, storage, virtualization, automation, and operational excellence.

As a senior member of the team, you will contribute to infrastructure architecture, mentor engineers, lead technical initiatives, and collaborate closely with Platform Engineering, Security, DevOps, and Software Engineering teams.

This role is ideal for experienced infrastructure professionals who enjoy working across both cloud-native and traditional enterprise environments, combining hands-on technical work with architectural ownership and technical leadership.

What you’ll do

  • Design, deploy, and maintain secure, scalable, and resilient infrastructure across on-premise environments and AWS.
  • Lead the implementation and optimization of hybrid cloud architectures.
  • Manage and optimize AWS services including EC2, VPC, S3, IAM, RDS, Route 53, CloudFront, ECS, EKS, Lambda, API Gateway, and Step Functions.
  • Design and operate secure connectivity solutions between cloud and datacenter environments using AWS Direct Connect, Transit Gateway, VPNs, and VPC Peering.
  • Manage Linux and Windows-based infrastructure platforms and associated services.
  • Administer virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere, ESXi, Hyper-V, or KVM.
  • Manage enterprise storage environments, including NetApp solutions, backup, replication, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and/or CloudFormation.
  • Develop automation and operational tooling using Python, Bash, and PowerShell.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support infrastructure and platform deployments.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and continuously improve infrastructure performance, reliability, and security.
  • Support cloud migration initiatives and workload modernization projects.
  • Drive infrastructure governance, standards, and best practices across the organization.
  • Collaborate with Security teams to ensure compliance with security and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in architectural reviews and contribute to long-term infrastructure strategy.
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote a culture of technical excellence, ownership, and knowledge sharing.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation in English.

Requirements

You are an experienced infrastructure professional with a cloud background and a passion for building reliable, secure, and scalable systems.

You enjoy solving complex technical challenges, balancing operational excellence with strategic thinking, and collaborating with stakeholders across multiple teams and geographies.

You are comfortable taking ownership of critical infrastructure initiatives while helping others grow through mentorship and technical leadership

Requirements

Language Requirements

  • English: Professional working proficiency (B2 or higher) - Mandatory.
  • Spanish: Native or full professional proficiency (C1 or higher) - Mandatory.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with global, multicultural teams., * 5+ years of hands-on experience in systems and infrastructure engineering.
  • 2+ years in production environments using cloud preferably AWS.
  • Proven track record designing, building, and maintaining hybrid cloud architectures (preferably AWS + On-Premise integration).
  • Basic Hands-on experience deploying, managing, and troubleshooting Kubernetes clusters in production environments.
  • Basic experience operating in international, distributed, and cross-functional teams.
  • You must reside in Madrid.
  • Availability to travel: Occasional travel required to physical data centers for hardware management, maintenance, or infrastructure projects.

Basic AWS Technical Skills (Must have)

  • Core Services: EC2, VPC, S3, IAM, RDS, Route 53, ELB/ALB.
  • Networking & Connectivity: Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, Site-to-Site VPN, VPC Peering.

Basic AWS Technical Skills (Nice to have)

  • Container Orchestration: Amazon EKS (cluster setup, node groups, ingress, security, scale management) and ECS.
  • CDN: CloudFront or Cloudflare
  • Identity & Governance: IAM policies, AWS IAM Identity Center (SSO), AWS Organizations.
  • Observability: CloudWatch, CloudTrail, AWS Config.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Advanced Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Serverless: Lambda, API Gateway, Step Functions.

On-Premise & Datacenter Technical Skills (Must have)

  • OS Administration: Linux (RHEL, Ubuntu) and Windows Server.
  • Virtualization: VMware vSphere/ESXi, Hyper-V, or KVM.
  • Datacenter & Hardware: Physical server maintenance, rack management, datacenter operations, and operator room management.
  • Networking: TCP/IP, routing, switching, firewalls, VLANs, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, LDAP.

On-Premise & Datacenter Technical Skills (Nice to have)

  • Kubernetes & Containerization: Production management of self-hosted or bare-metal Kubernetes clusters (RKE, OpenShift, K3s, microK8s, or upstream Kubernetes), Docker, and Containerd.
  • Storage & Backup (NetApp Ecosystem): SAN/NAS (iSCSI, NFS), ONTAP, SnapMirror, SnapVault, SnapCenter, BlueXP, Cloud Volumes ONTAP, FabricPool cloud tiering, or other persistent storage management for Kubernetes and Linux (NetApp Astra Trident / CSI drivers).
  • Firewalling: Iptables, Pfsense, Fortinet or any other Firewall Appliance.
  • WAF: AWS WAF, Cloudflare, Datodome or Imperva.

Basic Hybrid Architecture & Migration knowledge:

  • Architecting secure, high-availability hybrid connections.
  • Workload migration strategies (Lift-and-Shift, Re-platforming, Re-architecting).
  • Capacity planning, performance tuning, and cross-environment cost optimization.

DevOps, Automation & Security (Nice to have)

  • Container Ecosystem & Tooling: Helm, Kustomize, Ingress Controllers (Nginx, Traefik), Cert-Manager.
  • Scripting & Automation: Python, Bash, Ansible.
  • CI/CD & Version Control: Git, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or AWS CodePipeline.
  • Monitoring & Logging: Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, Datadog, or Splunk.
  • Security & Compliance: Security hardening best practices, ISO 27001, SOC 2, and GDPR awareness.

Soft Skills

  • Strong architectural vision, analytical problem-solving, and technical decision-making.
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proactive mindset with autonomous execution in distributed setups.
  • Strong documentation and knowledge-sharing mindset.

Nice to Have

  • AWS Certifications: Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional), SysOps Administrator, or DevOps Engineer.
  • Kubernetes Certifications: CKA, CKAD, or CKS.
  • Hands-on experience with Multi-Cloud setups (Azure or GCP).
  • GitOps practices and continuous deployment tools (ArgoCD, Flux)., * Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, or related engineering field (or equivalent hands-on experience).
