Job description

This isn’t a contract where you’ll simply be keeping the lights on, it is in fact a nice blend

You’ll join a large organisation with a modern, cloud-first infrastructure environment, taking ownership of critical network services while helping deliver technical change and ongoing improvements. The work will give you exposure to enterprise Cisco networking, SD-WAN, Azure, network security and modern data centre technologies.

You’ll balance hands-on troubleshooting and operational support with project delivery, network improvements and automation.

Recent, hands-on Cisco Viptela SD-WAN experience is essential.

Experience limited to Cisco Meraki SD-WAN will not be sufficient.

The Role

Working within an established infrastructure function, you will:

  • Maintain the stability, performance and security of network services.
  • Investigate and resolve complex escalated incidents.
  • Deliver technical changes and contribute to network projects.
  • Work with architects, project managers and stakeholders to implement appropriate solutions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve resilience, security and efficiency.
  • Support vulnerability remediation and maintain technical documentation.
  • Contribute to developing network automation practices.

Requirements

You’ll need experience operating independently within a large or technically complex network environment, combining BAU support with project delivery.

Essential technical experience includes:

  • Hands-on Cisco Viptela SD-WAN.
  • Cisco Catalyst and Nexus routing and switching.
  • OSPF, MP-BGP, VXLAN and EVPN.
  • Enterprise cloud networking, ideally Microsoft Azure.
  • Cisco wireless, Secure Client/AnyConnect and ASAv.
  • Firewalls and network access control, including Cisco ISE.
  • Core services such as DNS, DHCP and NTP.
  • Structured service and change management environments.

Experience with Terraform, Bicep, ARM or other network automation technologies would be beneficial. Cisco CCNP or CCIE certification, or current study towards one, is also desirable.
