Job description
The Data Center Cable Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and documenting structured cabling systems within data center environments. This role supports network infrastructure by ensuring proper installation of copper and fiber optic cabling, cable management, equipment rack installations, and adherence to industry standards and safety procedures., * Install, terminate, test, and label copper and fiber optic cabling in data center environments.
- Route and manage network cabling through trays, ladders, conduits, and underfloor pathways.
- Install and support network hardware including switches, routers, servers, patch panels, and cabinets.
- Perform cable testing, certification, and troubleshooting using industry-standard testing tools.
- Read and interpret network diagrams, rack elevations, floor plans, and cabling schematics.
- Maintain accurate documentation of cable installations, labeling, and infrastructure changes.
- Conduct moves, adds, and changes (MAC work) across data center environments.
- Ensure compliance with customer standards, industry best practices, and safety regulations.
- Assist with equipment rack and stack activities, including mounting and cable dressing.
- Respond to service requests, incidents, and infrastructure support tickets.

Requirements
Management Hand Tools Fiber Optics Patch Panels Network Routing Network Switches Network Diagrams Technical Drawing Fiber Optic Cable Networking Cables Business Valuation Category 6 Cabling Category 5 Cabling Structured Cabling Industry Standards Networking Hardware Cable Installations Power Tool Operation Packaging And Labeling Full Stack Development Network Infrastructure Artificial Intelligence Business Transformation Rack Elevation Drawings Troubleshooting (Problem Solving), * BICSI Technician or Installer Certification.
- Fiber optic termination and testing experience.
- Experience working in enterprise or hyperscale data centers.
- Experience installing and terminating Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, and fiber optic cabling.
- Knowledge of structured cabling standards (TIA/EIA, BICSI preferred).
- Ability to read technical drawings, cable schedules, and network documentation.
- Experience with cable testing and certification equipment.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and cabling installation equipment.
- Understanding of basic networking concepts and hardware.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification., Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
