Job description
- Own 5G/6G Radio Access Network (RAN) Layer 2 (MAC, RLC, PDCP, SDAP) responsibilities
- Drive 3GPP 5G/6G feature development from specification through commercialization
- Design and develop L2 functionality, including DL and UL channel configuration, data-plane and call flows
- Implement and optimize fixed and dynamic DL and UL channel schedulers, data-plane paths
- Interface with NodeB Layer 3 (RRC) and Layer 1 (PHY) components
- Develop real-time-sensitive, multi-core, and multi-threaded software for the NodeB
- Debug, profile, and optimize software for latency, throughput, and reliability on the target platform
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field., * 2+ years of experience in SW design and development with the C++ programming language, or strong C programming with familiarity in object-oriented concepts
- Experience with the full software development life cycle
- Familiarity with 3GPP 4G/5G specifications. Acumen to read and understand the 3GPP specifications and translate them to requirements
- Familiarity with developing and working in a Linux environment
- Knowledge of multi-core, multi-threaded programming, and associated OS concepts
- Familiarity with industry-standard software development and debugging tools (IDEs, build systems, git, gdb).
- Familiarity with AI based tools/agentic workflows to improve work productivity
- Strong analytical, debugging, and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional distributed teams
Preferred Skills
- Hands-on experience in designing and developing LTE/5G L2 (MAC, RLC, PDCP, SDAP) or RAN software
- Experience with real-time scheduling, DPDK, or performance tuning on multi-core platforms.
- Familiarity with modern C++ (17/20/23)
- Experience with hands-on Python is a plus

Pay range and Other Compensation & Benefits : $94,200.00 - $141,200.00
The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm. The Wireless R&D group is focused on developing a Test Base Station (TBS) for verification of QCT mobile chipset functionality. We are seeking a software engineer for an exciting opportunity to collaborate in the implementation and verification of complex wireless systems. The successful candidate will be part of a diverse, experienced team developing cutting edge features for 5G and 6G wireless technologies for the 5G/6G TBS product. Sophisticated multi-thread software is written in C++ and implemented as a Linux service. Fast paced development is supported by Continuous Integration processes and systems.
